HI
...... I'm Honeynut!
People tell me that I'm a lot of Honey and
a bit of a Nut, but personally I tend to think the opposite!
This is my first attempt at making a web
page for myself. I decided to try it on a whim to relieve stress,
but I think I am defeating the purpose. I sit here till all hours
of the night trying to get my pages to work, only to get them messed up
somehow. Lordy! why didn't anyone tell me this wasn't as easy as
it looked?! But before I go any further I must thank Terri (aka WEB
WIZARD) WEB
WIZARD for her patience with me and
ALL the help she has given me thus far! I am indebted to her and
forever grateful. Without your help, Terri, I would not have gotten this
far. THANK YOU!
So....now, on with a bit about Honeynut.
Let's see, well I live in Ontario, Canada, in a small rural town of about
12,000, located in the southwestern part of Ontario. I am married
to a wonderful man for the past 15 yrs.... (I guess I'll keep him a while
yet), and we have 4 beautiful children. Their ages are 12, 10, 7,
5. Three are girls and the 7 yr old is my little man! In fact
here's a recent picture of us....
That sweet little mop of a critter is our
dog Lucy! She lives up to her namesake too.... besides the red hair
she's as zany and crazy as the beloved Lucy that we remember from TV.
Our Lucy is 7 months old now and is as spoiled as any dog can be.
My hubby gave her to me last September, so that I could have something
to spoil and cuddle to, as it was, in his words, simpler than having another
baby. But I beg to differ..... Lucy needs just as much of my time
as a baby would, and I have to take her everywhere with me, feed her, clean
up after her, walk her, bathe her..... gee thinking of it.... I might as
well of had
another kid! I grew up not too far from where I live
now, on a (and I wrinkle my nose as I say this), on a pig farm. Ewwwwww!
Never did make a good farmers daughter.
I used to try anything and everything to
get out of going to the barn. I was the only daughter (I had two
brothers) so I usually did end up in the house to help mom. But every
now and then, dad would get a bright idea to try to make a farm girl out
of me. Never worked! I got married at twenty and made darned
sure it wasn't to a farmer!!
After high school I found a job working in
a nursing home in my small town. I enjoyed working with the elderly
people there and found myself many 'honorary grandparents'. I stayed
there until I got married. My husband had his own business at home,
and I was working the graveyard shift, and that phone would ring all day
long. I wasn't getting any sleep so I had no choice but to quit my job.
I worked for my hubby for a while and then got into my own business.
I started a home daycare. I usually had 2-4 kids a day for a while,
but then my hubby got too close to me and I discovered that the following
October, I was going to have one of my own. So.... so much for the
day care. I guess either I enjoyed the first one too much or was
so overwhelmed by all the work that my brain went on the blink, because
before I knew what hit me I was pregnant again with our second child.
Our second daughter was born in May, 19 months after the firstborn.
It's pretty much a blurr at that point.... all I remember doing was
getting up, diapers, feeding, diapers, bathing babies, diapers, feeding,
more diapers......... it took me two and a half years to get up the courage
to try for a son. So in August 1990 our son was born. Now as
much trouble as men are when they get older (hey they are you know)! well
this little bundle of blue innocence was the easiest baby I ever had.
Why couldn't they all be like he was. Eventually though he figured
out he was of the male species and began acting the part.... ohhhh lordy,
did he!! and he hasnt' stopped. But life was just peachy keen.. we
had two daughters (I always said they were the sisters I never had) and
now a son. What could be better than that!? Apparently the
joke was on me. God looked down and said "OK.... she's got it too
good.... I've gotta do something to keep her on her toes". So he
gave us a "surprise package"!! I was late (you know what I mean),
and I went to the doctor for a test. I said "If this comes back postive
then I swear it was an immaculate conception, 'cuz I dont know how it would
have gotten there". Well OK, I DO know how... but you know what I
mean. Well as luck would have it the nurse calls me later in the
day and tells me that according to the test results, if this was an immaculate
conception, then I had better be prepared for the 'second coming'.
And sure enough, that October we had our last baby, another daughter...
our comic relief, and her personality tells us that she was also God's
way of saying there will be no more 'cuz after this character you wont
even want another! He wasn't kidding!!!!! But they are all special,
and they are the 'lights' of my life. I LOVE you Jennifer, Melinda,
Jeff and Michelle!!!!!!
I have many interests. I enjoy
watching medical shows and reading up on the latest medical news.
In 1989 I took a college course to get my CHCA (Certified Health Care Aide)
which basically amounts to a half-assed nurse (no offence to other HCA's).
I also enjoy reading anything from romance to biography's, chatting on
the IRC ( you can usually find me on the efnet server hanging around in
#30-50GoodChat, or just hanging around chatting privately. My other
interests are fishing (yup you heard right...fishing), camping, needlework,
walking for exercise, swimming, and of course playing on the computer either
surfing or now, building my home page. I enjoy going to the theatre,
out for dinner, (or lunches), and watching movies. I'd have to say
my favorite recent one is the Titanic. How could I resist a love
story?! My favorite shows are Seinfeld and Friends. My favorite
talk shows are Regis and Kathi-Lee and Oprah. I enjoy listening to
music and I have my radio playing all day. It would be difficult
to pin point a favorite music artist but I guess if I had to I would have
to say Elton John. Although I enjoy Madonna, Jewel, Jann Arden, Sarah
McLachlan, Paula Cole, Donna Lewis, Emmylou Harris, Celine Dion,
and even the Spice Girls! Then of course there's Bryan Adams, Michael
Bolton, and too many others to mention here.
I'm always trying something new or getting
into mischief. Last spring for my birthday, my Hubby surprised me
with a Hot Air Balloon Ride!! I was estactic!!! Ok, ok, so
my knuckles were white at first, but after we actually got off the ground
and I relized I was still alive I really enjoyed the flight! It was
so peaceful up there and so very quiet. You actually float on air.
The only sound that could be heard 5700 feet off the ground was the dogs
below barking, believe it or not. I am also known to my friends as
the practical prankster.... and someday, I'm sure, what goes around is
going to come around! I have sure pulled off some good ones.
But I know I'm in for it.... they're just waiting till they think
I'm not looking!
I do have a quiet and serious side to me
too. I spend many evenings just sitting around sipping a coffee and
chatting with my Best Friend, as well as neighbour, Dianne. She's
my anchor in my life, and has helped me through some very trying and difficult
times. Her insight, advice, kindness, and support has done more for
me than I think she even realizes.
