Harmony Masonic Lodge No.22 A.F.M. News Letter for month of April 2003

Brethren,

As I sit her pondering what words of wisdom to share with you all, listening to news report on the War in Iraq, I find myself thinking of the many masons serving our country. I am sure that many of your are or have loved ones in the Armed Forces and I would like to take a minute to thank you and your families for the sacrifices you are making and to wish them well in their fight for freedom.

Those of us here at home will keep the candle burning until all of our brethren return home. I am proud to be an American and proud to be a Mason.

Brethren:

This is the second News Letter thus far from your Lodge. It is our hope that you will take time to read it, and send us a reply as to what you think of it. We also encourage each member to give us a little feed back as to what you would like to see in our letter. We are still hoping to set a Master Mason Degree sometime real soon, which will be we hope on a Saturday Morning and will be held down stairs in the dining hall. I hope to see you soon in Lodge.

Rick A. Krob, Wor.Master

From your Secretary

What is a Cable-Tow?

A cable-tow in the ritualistic form is a symbol of control. Although not very elaborate in its material form it is very symbolic. The cable-tow symbolizes the umbilical cord necessary to begin life and is cut when love and care replace it as a means to growth and nourishment. When the cable-tow is removed from the initiate it to is symbolic that the need for growth and nourishment is now met in new ways. The love of a brother and his guiding ways replace the need for physical restraint.

Cable-tow possibly originates from the English or German and may be ritualistically a tow or draw as to pull or compel. Whereas, in the spiritual sense it may be the cable or strong tie which unites.

The length of a cable-tow varies from brother to brother. Today it is almost universally excepted as "the scope of a brother's ability."
