INTRODUCING...

Some where in the area between these two extremes is .
It's hard to tell exactly where that point is sometimes...I travel to several points in a day. I think that's true of most women.(Sorry, guys! Your only job is to be men. One hat is all your head will support.) Follow me and I will show you what I mean...

First thing in the morning, I am a 'chef ', cooking breakfast for everybody.Then it's on to being a 'wardrober ' to find clothes that match so no one looks like a Hobo. Of course, then 'Mama' has to appear and take care of any problems that pop-up. Next it's time for the 'secretary' to appear. Homework has to be signed and in their book bags, lunch money in their pockets, any special projects hauled to the car, and all notes to the teacher written & signed & in an envelope. 'Comforter' now takes over to assure that the book report will go fine & the math test won't be as hard as he thinks. Enter, 'chauffeur' to get the whole block's kids to school on time. All this is done and I have the rest of the day to myself, right?
BEEP-BEEP !! Wrong answer !! Now I need to go to work. I rush back home...shower...do my hair..."fix my face" (like that's really possible)... find something to wear...and drive myself to the hospital. I guess this is under the heading of 'Independent Woman'. Of course, 'cosmetologist' has been in this morning, too. Now, it's time for 'Nurse Nancy' to take over for the next 8 hours.
Now that's 10, count 'em, 10 hats I've had on and it's only 8:00 am. I'm tired just writing about it.

Let's take a breather so I can explain something. I AM NOT COMPLAINING! I love my life and all the things I do. It simply seems important to me that women get the appreciation they have earned ( if they have).

I won't take you step-by-step through the rest of my day. Let me just run down some titles I have until I fall asleep.

If you don't understand what is meant by this, go to your Bible and read, never mind, let me share it with you here:

Prov.31:10 Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Prov.31:11 The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her,
so that he shall have no need of spoil.
Prov.31:12 She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.
Prov.31:13 She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
Prov.31:14 She is like the merchants' ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
Prov.31:15 She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household,
and a portion to her maidens.
Prov.31:16 She considereth a field, and buyeth it:
with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.
Prov.31:17 She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
Prov.31:18 She perceiveth that her merchandise is good:
her candle goeth not out by night.
Prov.31:19 She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
Prov.31:20 She stretcheth out her hand to the poor;
yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
Prov.31:21 She is not afraid of the snow for her household:
for all her household are clothed with scarlet.
Prov.31:22 She maketh herself coverings of tapestry;
her clothing is silk and purple.
Prov.31:23 Her husband is known in the gates,
when he sitteth among the elders of the land.
Prov.31:24 She maketh fine linen, and selleth it;
and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
Prov.31:25 Strength and honour are her clothing;
and she shall rejoice in time to come.
Prov.31:26 She openeth her mouth with wisdom;
and in her tongue is the law of kindness.
Prov.31:27 She looketh well to the ways of her household,
and eateth not the bread of idleness.
Prov.31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praiseth her.
Prov.31:29 Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.
Prov.31:30 Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain:
but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.
Prov.31:31 Give her of the fruit of her hands;
and let her own works praise her in the gates.

How much more can be said of a woman? I hope that when my time comes people, especially my family, will remember me in that kind of spirit. What a beautiful epitaph !!!
I apologize if I'm being too sentimental...I sometimes get carried away & forget my subject. Let's get back to me, now.

I have had the blessing of never being without children in the house. Before my 2 children were born, I had two foster children. Then, before my youngest daughter was old enough to leave home, I was given the blessing of a grandson & granddaughter. I later adopted these as my own and, aside from giving birth to them, they are as much my "natural" children as Becky and Rachel.

During the time my first kids were growing up, I had several more foster children. Most stayed until they were married.

I have 4 grandchildren (not counting Casey & Kari, the 2 we adopted). Aaron is with us now, Brittany and Drew live in Georgia with Rachel, Erin is in New Jersey with a wonderful adoptive family.

At the present time I am an LPN but studying for my RN standing and hoping to become a Nurse Practicener or Midwife before I am forced to retire. My positions at the hospital were on the Psychiatric Unit, but I also worked on Medical/Surgical units, Step Dpwn from ICU and in the Emergency Room at times.

I try to be as active in church work as I possibly can. I was a Boy Scout Den Leader for 2 tears, oops, I mean years. {You think that was a Freudian slip?} One year as a team Manager for a minor league baseball team although I was a Team Mom since Casey started playing T-Ball. Kari finished her 3rd year of Brownies and I helped just a little with her troop.

Several years ago we started a program for the deaf at church and I studied with the interpreter for about 6 months. I keep learning as she signs at church. We are very lucky to have found such a wonderful lady for this ministry.

The following is the theme poem of the Phenomenal Women of the Web. It speaks for women of all walks of life and is meaningful to any gender, race, religion, or origin. Please give some thought to it's message.
The Phenomenal Women Of The Web Poem
By Nancy Imelda Schafer

All women are diverse and complex as snowflakes.
         Let no person ever be so narrow minded,
     That they do not see the other's beauty and form
         Because they think their own is the only pattern.

     The challenge of the mind, bears the fruit of knowledge.
         Reach high girls, and grow into strong women.
     There are no bounds to learning - if the reach is constant and determined.
     A women rich within herself, is a Phenomenal Women.

SOME WOMEN
And they have come With eyes I fell into And bodies that set me alight And they have curled up in my life Playing with their reflection In the mirrors of my eyes And they have shaped thenselves As this; as that; With no more weight on me Than a butterfly But with a will That worlds are formed by -Roger Wells
Let me close by saying, I have always wanted to be a comediene. On this page is very little humor but, that is at the core of me. As a Christian, mother, sister, daughter, niece, aunt, cousin, nurse, cook, chauffeur, wardrober, secretary, bookkeeper, housekeeper, PR person, listener, teacher, hairstylist, safety director, {whew...I'm out of breath}, etc., I can never promise to fix everything that hurts or troubles those around me. What God gave me the ability to do is put a smile on their face and a joy in their hearts and that's what I try to do.

I told you earlier that the scripture above would be my ideal epitaph, well let me tell you about another one that was found on a headstone.
Stranger, Stop As You Pass By,
As You Are Now, So Once Was I.
As I Am Now, Soon You Will Be.
So Prepare For Death & Follow Me.

The last line was added by an unknown author in paint instead of carving.

To Follow You, I'm Not Content,
Until I Know Which Way You Went.
