Bar, Cup
and Chaucer, and Game Room
Wood paneling, "human-sized", as opposed to gargantuan.
Run by HH and Joe.
The Gameroom is ballroom-sized with shiny hardwood
floors. Various neon signs adorn the walls. Immediately to your right is
a pool table with a large Bud Lite lamp hanging over it with a dartboard
in the corner. You'll find a matching pool table on your left, except it
has a Miller Lite lamp over it, and a jukebox directly behind it. Each
table has its cue rack on the wall with the entrance. In the center of
the room is a circular bar, fully stocked. This affords easy access from
anywhere in the room. To the right of the bar is an air hockey table, a
ping-pong table, and a foosball table. To the left, two card tables, with
comfortable chairs and couches line the walls surrounding the tables for
any spectators of an ongoing game. There's also a huge-screen TV with state-of-the
art video and sound systems, CD players, and who knows what else. The TV
is in a sunken area surrounded by couches, chairs, and oversized pillows.
In the far right corner are two bowling lanes with a computerized score
keeping system. The remaining space is divided up among various video games.
There is a virtual ski machine and shooting range. Slot machines and blackjack
machines line the far wall.
The Cup and Chaucer lies in what used to be an unused utility room off the bar. White cast iron cafe tables are arranged in a semi-circle around a raised stage at the back wall. A large stained glass window depicting a man hunched over a desk with quill in hand sits behind the stage. The walls are covered with built-in dark mahogany bookshelves, stuffed full of books and magazines of various sorts. At the front of the room is a coffee bar, complete with a bright neon sign advertising Starbucks Coffee and a red vested barrista named Antoine dispensing espressos and flirty smiles to the ladies. A jukebox in the opposite corner plays blues tunes at a muted level, not so loud as to impede conversation, but just loud enough to be present and set a mood. A single microphone and a stool sit in the middle of the stage, banked by two large speakers. A set of spot lights hang from the ceiling overhead.
Now why don't you check out some of the Poetry
from the Cup and Chaucer?
