The Library,
Vault,
and Music Room
As you walk in there is a large desk and table on
the right where the filing, purchasing, and other sundry maintenance activities
take place. This is my work are in the Castle because as Harem Ski Instructor
I'm not too busy while at home. Along the windows opposite the door there
is a reading area. The Master's chair naturally has pride of place and
there are many comfortable chairs and sofas. This is where he reads to
us or where we read to him and to our sisters. We have a nice view of the
grounds from here and it's easy to get lost in daydreams while reading
or staring out at the scenery. Between the reading area and the book stacks
there is a group of large tables with comfortable desk chairs which can
be used to spread out research books, maps, and any other materials. The
books are on shelves which are perpendicular to the inner wall and extend
along the wall to the left of the door. There are thousands of books. Most
of what is kept in the library is more towards the heavy duty research/classics
end of things than current fiction. We have a lot of historical texts.
The Master's chronicles -- those that he lets us see -- have their own
area, there aren't many but they mean a lot to us because they help us
know him. To the right of the doors, on the other side of my desk there
are three other tables with computer terminals for those who prefer not
to have a computer in their room. There are two file servers and the network
hubs and routers in a room just past the terminals. From here Mike can
keep the Castle network up and running. If he's not around I can take care
of it. After all, we need our internet.
The Vault contains the more sensitive pieces of Methos'
history and is handled solely by him.
This room is equipped with a concert grand piano,
a set of choir risers, and various and sundry of the ladies’ personal instruments.
(MUSICAL instruments! Sick minds, all of you!) It is completely soundproofed
while at the same time having fantastic interior acoustics. Folding chairs
are stowed in cabinets for use in concerts and recitals.
