Amanda Wannabe, Aslen, Badb, and Laura and Harem Dancer
AW stood back, surveying the room with a self-satisfied
grin. It had taken her almost a week, but she was finally moved into her
room at the Castle. She flopped onto the king-sized sleigh bed, running
a bare toe over the intricately carved cherry oak frame. In truth, the
high vaulted ceilings called for a four poster or a canopy bed. The antique
now taking up the middle of the room looked dwarfed in comparison to the
expansive living quarter. But AW had fallen in love with the hand made,
hand carved treasure on first sight. The room was massive, far too large
for one sensible person to use as a bedroom. But thankfully AW was not
sensible. In fact, she needed the extra room.
A pack rat and a collector, AW had spent twenty-one
years accumulating bits and pieces of odd doo-dads; paperback books by
the hundreds, baring titles as diverse as the authors who penned them.
These occupied a large built in oak bookshelf in the northeast corner,
along with a few nicely kept up hardbacks. The top two shelves, glassed
in and lit by two single bulbs, were home to her collection of dolls and
small porcelin jewelry boxes and figurines. A large over-stuffed leather
chair and cherry oak lamp table sat in front of the bookcase, a replica
of a Tiffany lamp perched upon the table. In the opposite corner a roll
top computer desk stood, bracketed by two small bookcases which held AW's
strange collection of "reference material." The topics here ranged from
zen buddism to high society ettiquette. The IBM Aptiva on the desk hummed
industriously, the screen flickering with pictures of the Master.
The front of the room was divided between what AW
called "living space" and a large vanity, also cherry oak, cluttered with
makeup and the unpacked but still not put away storehouse of costume jewelry.
The living space consisted of a large entertainment center hidden beneath
a TV, VCR, CD player, and dusty Victrola record player and a wide variety
of movies, most of which were advertised with large movie posters tacked
to the walls of the room. A well- used loveseat sat in front of it, piled
high with pillows from the bed for movie viewing comfort. Next to the couch
was a window seat, hidden under an unfolded blue quilt and a worn copy
of "The Three Musketeers." As the sun filtered in through the lacy violet
curtains, AW closed her eyes and smiled, tired and happy.
At the center of the back wall there was
a massive four poster bed with a fluffy white comforter and pillows.
Right next to the large bay window with
a very comfortable window seat.
Built into the wall directly across from
the window seat on the other wall was a large fireplace in front of which
was a thick fluffy rug. On one side of the fireplace was a massive bookcase.
A quick examination of the box showed it contained all her favourite books.
Aslen chuckled. "Looks like the old devil
did a little sleuthing." She turned away from the bookshelf and wandered
into the spacious bathroom.
It was gorgeous. Also decorated in oak
and creamy white. The tub was set into the raised floor in another bay
window and she noted various bubble baths along with her favourite shampoo.
She walked back into the main room and
glanced over at the comfy looking lazy boy next to the bookshelf.
A check confirmed that the other door in her room was a walk in closet that already had some clothes in it. Dressy things she hadn't thought to bring or couldn't afford to own. The closet also had a dressing area with floor to ceiling mirrors and a dressing table.

My room will probably be called the cave. It'll be
in a corner so it can have both a window seat and a balcony overlooking
the garden, maze, whatever is behind the house (yes I'm greedy). It will
be big, painted off-white, with dark wood floors and crammed with dark,
cherry furniture: a dresser, chest of drawers (yes you can hide the masters
clothes with me), a vanity, armoire (for my jewelry, I'm the jewely queen.
I have all kinds and your welcome to borrow anytime you want), a big sleigh
bed with a nighttable, and the obligatory bookshelves. The cave will be
decorated in jewel toned silks and satins with pillows and rugs tossed
around the floor. All of my electronic equipment will be hidden in cabnets
with my computer in a fold down (I can't think of the real name) desk.
My bathroom (I don't share well, ask HD) will be much the same with a big
clawed-foot tub and ivory tile.
~ Go through the connecting door ~
My bedroom is a combination dance studio/library. One entire wall is floor to cealing mirrors with a ballet barre running the entire wall. The other three except for door spacing and the corners are bookcases. One corner is a water bed with a ballet shoes quilt. The other corner houses the custom computer with lazer printer, TV & stereo. The bookcases, desk, & bed are dark wood. The floor is blonde wood. It is so soft that you could sleep on it (it's good for dancer's joints & other nocturnal activities).
My bathroom has the only window in the suite. The
walls are cream with thin navy stipes. The towels are navy. The window
seat cushion is cream. The whirlpool & sink is cream with gold tone
faucets.
