Fortunately, I have a mild case of Lupus. Nothing more than an N.S.A.I.D. (Non-Steroid Anti-Inflammatory Drug) and a few life-style changes are required at this point. I do have arthritis in every joint and take Naprosin (N.S.A.I.D.) for pain when it gets bad. I have to limit exposure to the sun and use a good sunscreen. The mood swings have made things difficult with family and friends as well as dealing with myself. I've always reacted to things with laughter so that is the way I usually deal with Lupus. I have just been diagnosed with Keratoconus (an eye disease) that has been linked to systemic diseases. More laughter is definitely needed right now. However, I feel that I have received good medical care by well-educated physicians, and I have the support of my family. (Follow the link above to learn about "Keratoconus" and then press your browser's BACK button to return here.) My list of symptoms includes: Photosensitivity; Mouth ulcers; Arthritis; Susceptibility to infections; Rash on arms; Headaches; Easily Bruised; Fever blisters; Arthralgia (Achy joints); Fatigue; Mood swings. As I mentioned before, laughter is my best coping mechanism, as well as a generally postive attitude. I choose to believe my cup is half full. Yes I have Lupus, it is a mild case so I can still function. Yes I have arthritis, but it isn't crippling, just painful at times. Certainly I have times when I just can't be positive. On those days, I simply go to bed with a good book and my dog, and stay out of everyone else's way until it passes.
