I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus on July 6, 1979. I also have The Lupus Anticoagulant Syndrome. I have had pulmonary embloysis and blood clots in my legs. Currently, I am experiencing hair-loss, lung involvement, fatigue, painful joints, breathing difficulties, and the butterfly rash on my face. I feel that I've had good health-care through the years by well-educated physicians. I also have the support of my family, which is a tremendous help. I'd like my family to know that I am sorry for always being so tired and not being healthy. Yet, I try to live each day to the fullest as best I can, and I always tell my hubby and my son that I love them every day.

I experience fatigue, joint pain, rash, and hair loss. It is very difficult to juggle the roles of wife, and mother and carry on a full-time job with this disease. I sometimes feel that my family resents me for being sick so often. My marriage has suffered due to my illness. My self-esteem has declined because of the horrible and sometimes scarring rash that I get. I no longer feel as attractive as I once did. I'd like for my family to know that I truly wish I could be healthy. I want to live and be a part of everything that my family is involved in, but in order to stay healthy, I may not be able to participate in all things that they are involved in. But I love them more than life itself and I pray that God grants me the opportunity to see my children to adulthood and beyond.
