News Page
The
last update of this page was:
The news page has not really been touched since the coming of www.skateboard.com.au as I have been putting all my information and pics of skating and parks on that site, not my own. All the old links and details are here still, as you will see below but no new information here.
skateboard.com.au
Skateboard.com.au is undoubtedly the best all round site for Australian skateboarding, with much information added from all the skateboarders out there including myself and many others. This site used to be www.sk8parx.com for all you oldies.
In making
this site always new and exciting, I need your info on up and coming events,
new skate parks and other things of mentionable interest, so don't just
sit there, get your fingers working!!
This is my site for skateboarding. You can email me at:

Browns Plains skate park is finished and very
skate friendly, with lots of new and interesting things to do and try.
It is where the old bowls used to be, off Waller Road, just near Browns
Plains central with the big shopping centre and all, so go check it out
today!
*
The NEW Mt Cotton Park is running smoothly
from all accounts, with a smaller area than most of the new parks but certainly
some things there to keep the kiddies happy.

X-Games are happening again on 3rd
to 5th of December, this time at the RNA Showgrounds,

heard that many skate shops are selling 3 day tickets for $16, but to get
in on any of the days, paying at the door is going to cost $15 per day!!!
I guess they really want you to get into the pre-sold ticket action - to
guarantee you go!

Coorparoo skate park is having the Pete
Scott Memorial on Sunday

Kuraby skate park had the "Big
Comp Day" on Saturday
13 November, held by S.T. Skate Shop, with
a big fat $500 first place.
(go here for results)
Previously,
Kuraby had a very informal opening and band day on Sun. October 24th. Check
it out here, or see the normal skate park
page. The park is having bands and comps on a regular basis, so I was
told. They will be nothing huge, but certainly worth going for the day.
*
Cleveland skate park had a demo and bbq day
on Sunday 7th November, (last Sunday just gone). Check out the info from
that day here.

The Toolbox skate park will have its last
session this Friday 5th November
before they close for at least a month. Don't worry, they will be re-opening
after they fix the old ramps and maybe build some more for all you little
skate rats to shred next time you go down that way. To see what they did
have there, why not check out my page of The
Toolbox.
*
PuRush Skate Comp On Sat. October 23rd,
there was a comp and bands event called PuRush
in the Browns Plains
area, (info and results at the PuRush page)

General Skate Park News and Updates
*
Mt Cotton has a new skate park, similar to
Kuraby in its look with a few differences and a smaller scale. It is easy
to find, being right beside the only shopping centre in the Mt Cotton area.
*
Brisbane will soon have a dedicated group
of skaters and people uniting under the official name of the Queensland
Skateboard Association Inc. Duties for this
body will mostly be to do with the helping of skaters, upkeep and development
of skate parks, running of demos and competitions and anything else that
can be related to skateboarding. It will be a "join by membership" affair,
probably a small fee, but the return to the skateboarders will be so much
more than the initial money they put in. For more info, call Jim
(acting chair person) on 3876 3973.

I recently had a little skate day in the
Logan Shire / Beenleigh surroundings and found
a few places I had not been to before. They are all now listed in the SUBURB
LIST I have been compiling for you all to see what there is to skate
in and around Brisbane. In the Gold Coast shire area, there are a about
five new parks that have been put in, and a few more to go. Finally someone
at the G.C.C.C. has found out how to build parks, (not like Coomera
and Bethania), and these places ROCK!!!!!! Look out for new parks in Mudgeeraba,
Helensvale, Runaway Bay, Bilinga and Nerang.
I saw the plans to these places and there is no way I am NOT going to go
see them ASAP!!!!!
*
Logan Shire are looking at putting in new
parks in the Loganlea area and further south, as well as the Browns Plains
super park.
*
Mt Gravatt skate
park plans are done and everything is going ahead according to plan. It
will be in Klumpp Rd, in the Hibiscus Gardens Sports Complex. More news
and info soon.
Special
note: Plans have gone through as is, everything is fixed and now we are
just waiting for the builders to get the ok from the council...

POSSIBLE NEW SKATE FACILITY IN THE CARINDALE
AREA
The
P.C.Y.C. at Carindale are looking at building
a skate park to cater for local residents in the area. As yet, there are
no set plans or anything more than just the idea that they want a skate
park, but if you are living in that area or would skate something there,
let me know (email me) or let them know that you are interested!! I don't
know who is in charge of the project but you could visit them at:
P.C.Y.C.
NARRACOTT STREET, CARINDALE
Or
the general number to call for the centre is:
3324
9652
(No
prank calls please)

Browns Plains ***
Dirt
is going to be moved next week to get this place underway!!!!
Located
in the park behind the main shopping centre at Browns Plains, this park
is being built around the old bowls there and should be finished by the
end of January 2000. The reason for the long time in completion is that
this place is said to be a MGEA SKATE PARK!!!!!! I have seen the plans
and it certainly does look promising. Go check it out closer to the end
of the year!
Also,
talk of Moorooka
putting something in and
Cannon Hill
expanding what they have only just put in...
