This issue: There has been settled a committee to organise the festival, committee members are Simon T, Deano, DrOwl, Idealist and Bille. All PV citizens and friends are invited to offer their ideas and assistance. An ongoing contest will decide the official Pride logo, that will be released September 19th. A virtual pride will of course not be a copy of any Real World Pride, but by including events both appealing to just anyone, and some focusing on gay/lesbian interests, we hope to improve the acceptance between the groups in general. The detailed program is not yet decided, though there has already been suggested various activities. The final program will hopefully be introduced September 19th at a separate web page. Expected posts are parties, the parade, exhibitions, discussion groups, contests, separate group projects where everybody are invited to contribute, booths and a lot more. Some events will be ongoing for a short time only, while others will last through out the weekend, and some sights might even be able to visit after the festival. Suggestions for the program must be mailed one of the five committee members no later than September 12th, please check the PV Citizens and friends webpage for addresses!
The party attracted 10-12 guests and most of the guys took the challenge of cross dressing as their favourite female avatar with good humour. Definitely a new experience to most of us:) The guests complimented the cosy Center, which has been built by Idealist and here assistants; "I would never have started building if it weren't for some other ppl, like Bille who encouraged it, Dr Owl who started with me, and Lionheart NL who made the walls and roof", Idealist declared in here speech. She also shared some of the future plans for PV Women's Center: "I hope the Women's Center will attract women and also you males who are friends. But most of all I wish AW and PV would have more female participation". The amount of activities at the Women's Center, is depending on your interest. Anyone who like to get more information, or to subscribe to the Center's mailing list, can e-mail Idealist. Also check out the party report!
Each cell allows 40 objects (as the help files are probably not updated, ver.2.0 might allow 40% more), but this is when the objects are not packed with Descriptions and Actions. When you are prohibited from adding an object, check whether it's possible to move any object from the current cell to the next one. Checking the contents of a cell will also help you to discover any forgotten under ground objects. Remember to pay attention to your neighbours if your constructions are sharing cells. In Pink Village such a conflict will hardly appear because most lots are divided by paths.
"The largest challenge as a GK so far has been tolerating the abuse and harassment that many Tourists and some Citizens seem to take pleasure in directing at you as a GK. The majority of these people do this because they know you are a new GK. They delight in name calling, wasting your time asking questions they know the answer to and in general trying to interfere with your performance of your duties." Xyzzz has also experienced gay/lesbian users being verbally attached at the Gate; "A very bad gay bashing of a former GK and now a PK. I was finally able to eject the Tourist leading the bashing but unfortunately not before some very insulting remarks were made." Do anyone ever ask the GK for gay/lesbian related locations in AW? Xyzzz has no such experience from his time on duty, but it's good to know that there is at least one gay GK to assist anyone who might request such information:)
More than 28.3 millions of objects were scanned, and are now presented as an "easy to use" map, where you can request specific
The AW Map is a great tool for mapping your projects and constructions, and also to get a clue on the locations of your neighbours. Most of us have probably ongoing projects elsewhere in AlphaWorld. Naturally, Pink Point found Pink Village's surroundings particularly interesting. There has been a lot of building activity in this area, and the image looks totally different from 18 months back. This picture displays only one of the many levels - if you go higher, the image will include a larger area, and you can also go closer to see more details. Vevo's AlphaWorld Map is presented by Philips as part of Vevo Exhibition.
