PROFESSOR X
Real Name: Proffesor Charles Francis Xavier.
Powers: Professor X is the most powerful telepath on Earth. He has the ability to read minds, project his thoughts, and manipulate minds.
Significant relatives: David Haller (Legion), son.
Charles started traveling the world, and wound up in Egypt. It was there where he was pickpoceted by a nine year old Ororo Munroe (who would one day become Storm). He followed her and found out she was being used by Amahl Farouk, a fellow mutant telepath using his powers for evil. The two battled on the "astral plane", a sub-reality that psionics use as a sort of "internet". Farouk was defeated, and Xavier decided to be an adventurer, to seek out evil mutants and kick their ass. But that's not all. Realizing there are other mutants out there, he figgured the bad ones would give the good ones a bad rep, and SOMEONE had to do something to prevent or negate that.
He then went to Isreal, and met Eric Magnus Lehnsherr. Eric was a mutant, too. He possesed the power of magnatism, and... Okay, I'll cut the B.S., it's Magneto, Okay? Anyway, the two, dispite thier clashing idealologies(Magnus wanted to make the world safe for mutants by subjugating humans, Charles wanted peace between the two races), went on a few adventures together. One of which they went up against HYDRA, a Nazi-ish organization. They saved a woman named Gabriel Haller, and Chuck sort of went gaga over her, and they "hooked up" for a while. Now remember that, it's going to be important later. Chuck and Magnus went ther seperate ways, and Charled left Gabriel behind.
He went to Tibet, where the people were being treated harshly by an evil ruler no one had ever seen. Chuck lead a revolt, rallied the people and kicked this guy's ass. A few problems: One, This guy named Lucifer(no relation to the dark lord) is actualy an advanced scout for an invading alien army. Two, before he's defeated, he causes a boulder to fall on Charles's legs, forever crippling him. So much for that hero gig.
Chuck was airlifted to a hospital in India, where he met Amilia Voght, an american nurse. Being the only two americans there, Amy decided to hook up with Chuck and hit on him HARD. Here's how hard: On Chucks, oh, 2nd week there, Amielia took adavatage of the fact that he could only move his upper body and uh... well, I might have children reading this so I shouldn't say. The two stayed together for a while, neither one realizing the other was a mutant! However, they both found out about eachother durring an argument over Chucks plan to find mutants, which Amy took great offense to(being a mutant herself, see?). For the curious, Amielia is a teleporter. It was durring this time Xavier went back to Oxford to study phyciatry and re-befriended the now Dr. MacTaggart. She tried to convince Charles to try to find mutants and help them. At this point, Xavier and Vought moved into Charles father's estate. They ended up having a run-in with Eric, who was now calling himself Magneto. Charles and Magneto exchanged insults and finaly called off thier friendship with threats of death. Charles was now definate in his decision to start gathering mutants (Mags had already recruited Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch). Amielia was against the decision, but soon, Charles's Friend, Proffesor Grey, aproached him with a problem. His 11 year old daughter, Jean, had used her telepathic powers for the first time, only it happened to be when her best friend , Anne, died. She telepathicly witnessed Annes death through Annes perspective, and no doctor on earth could help Jean, who was now catatonic. Using all sorts of telepathy-tricks and what not, Charles finally snaped her out of it, so to speak. Now Charles was convinced. There were more and more young mutants out there who needed guidence and training in thier powers. Now a certified Proffesor, Professor Xavier aproached FBI agent Fred Duncan, who was assigned to "mutant affairs". The two worked together in finding Scott Summers, a boy with red beams coming out of his eyes who caused a distubance. Read Cyclops' story for more details. Amelia then left Charles.
Soon, Xavier opened up his mansion to be "Xaviers School for Gifted Youngsters", a fully certified NY private school. Under this cover, Xavier was allowed to find other "students" and no one would be suspicious. He recruted Iceman, Angel, Beast, and his origional pupil Jean, now known as Marvel Girl (Marvel comics, Marvel Girl, get it?). Together, the six constantly thwarted Magneto, the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, the Blob, the Vanisher, Juggernaut, and all sorts of crazies.
Then one day, Xavier died. Or at least that's what he had everyone think. Telling only Jean, he had the Changeling (known as Morph to you youngins') assume his form and then die (Changeling actualy did die, but how he was able to kep Chuck's form is beyond me...). Xavier spent the next several months in a Psi-shielded chamber so that he could prepare for the coming of the Z'Noxx. Remember Lucifer from Tibet? Well, I told ya so. For the next several months, Xavier battled the aliens telepathicly, and without a single shot being fired on Earthen soil, he drove the freaks off, and came out of his suclusion, revealing to the world that he was, indeed, alive.
On another occasion a bit later, Xavier sent the X-Men out to the island of Krakoa to find a mutant who was giving off a LOT of energy. After waiting for over a day, Cyclops came back, Battered and beaten, his uniform torn to smithereens. Cyclops said they were ambushed, but didn't know by what. Xavier quickly raced around the world, recruting mutants he had been watching for just such an emergancy. Colosus, Nightcrawler, Storm, Thunderbird, Banshee, Sunfire, and Wolverine were convinced to join, and they saved the X-Men. These New X-Men (with the exception of Sunfire) decided to stay while Havok, Polaris, Jean, Iceman, and Angel opted to leave. And so a new team of X-Men was born. Thunderbird died on the next mission though, D'OH! And against Count Neffaria, a NOBODY! D'OH!
Anyway, the new team went on several missions together, and in the aftermath of the "Pheonix Saga", Professor X discovered a new love in Lilandra Narmani, sister of D'Ken Narmani, Leader of the Shi'ar Empire. With D'Ken defeated, Proffesor X and Lilandra, dispite the distance of galaxies and thier leadership responsibilities, continued a romance that lasted a very long time. However, Professor X faced a great loss soon therafter, when Pheonix (an alien entity which everyone thought was Jean Grey) commited siucide to save the universe from itself, also prompting Cyclops to leave the team.
Now, with an almost all over 18 class, Xavier decided to return to the "School" and "Youngsters" part and recruted Kitty Pride, who turned out to be one of the professors favorite students, despite thier many arguements, dissagrements, etc... The X-Men, with an ever changing roster, was finally narrowed down to Cyclops, Wolverine, Storm, Colossus, Sprite (Kitty Pride), and Nightcrawler. Then, after an attack from the Brood (Think "Aliens", only uglier), The professor thought his students dead, but they were really just stranded in space. The Professor, with MacTaggarts advise, created the New Mutants, composed of Cannonball, Mirage, Wolvesbane, Warlock, and Sunspot. That team was later joined By Majik, Colossus's little sister who had been aged-up. Anyway, the X-Men returned to Earth, trying desperatly to find the Professor. After a scirmish with the New Mutants, they found the professor but were too late. He had a Brood-Queen implanted inside of him and it hatched, killing the professor. After killing the Queen, MacTaggart copied Xaviers mind onto a computer and put the information inside a cloned body, provided by Lilandra. With this new body, Xavier was able to walk again! He started taking a more active combat role with his students, but then Magneto returned. Mags was kind of good-guy-ish, due to MacTaggarts Genetic tinkering. Mags, after doing some horrible things (like sinking a sub with all hands on deck, and using a volcano to destroy a villiage), he turned himself over to a World-Crimes tribunal. Xavier was present at the trial with Gabriel Haller, whom he unknowingly had a child with. Then some looser named Fenris tried to kill the three of them. Turned out Fenris was Baron Von Struckers son, who was getting vengance on the three for messing wiht his old man back in thier Isreal days. Mags and Haller were fine, but Xavier was near death. Mags was incidentaly found innocent(?), so the professor then left for space, calling upon his old friendship with Magneto to care for the New Mutants and lead the X-Men, while Lilandra cared for the recuperating Xavier. He stayed in space for many years.
Upon his return, He found the New mutants were calling themselves "X-Force" and were being lead by the gun-nut Cable. Magneto had gone as bad as last weeks fish, and Anti-Mutant Hystarea was at an all time high thanks to X-Factors mistake of posing as killer mutant hunters. Jean was alive, Angel now had blue skin and metal wings and was calling himself Archangel, Beast was doing his best "cookie monster" impression again, Nightcrawler and Kitty (now calling herself Shadowcat) had joined up with a new Pheonix and joined the England-based eXcalibur, and so the professor demanded unity between the teams. He had so many X-Men he had to split them into two teams, The Blue Team (Cyclops, Wolverine, Jubilee, Psilocke, Beast, Gambit and Rouge) and the Gold Team (Storm, Jean, Iceman, Archangel, Colosus and later Bishop), as well as Banshee and Forge in reserve.
Then Stryfe, Cables clone, tried to assasinate Xavier, while pinning the blame on Cable. The X-Teams came together and beat him so horribly bad, only to gain information leaving everyone to believe that he was actualy Nathan Summers, Cyclops's son who had been sent into the futer. That was all cleared up later, however, as it was discoverd he was only a clone of Nathan, who was, yup, you guessed it, Cable. Of course, before dissapeering, he left a lovely parting gift. Then the teams all came together to mourn Illianya, the first vitim of that damn virus. Luckily they were all there, because Magneto, who everyone thought was dead, came back to life and decided to crash the party. Not that anyone could do anything, Mags was a zillion times more powerful now. Colossus, in spite of Xavier, left to join the Acolytes. Durring the fierce battles that followed, Cable was almost killed, Wolverine had his adamantium ripped out, and in fear that Magneto would kill everyone on earth, Charles mind-wipped Magnetos mind, leaving him an empty shell. Gee, nice payback to a guy that had rescued you less than a year earlier when you were dying in the antarctic, Chuckles.
More crap coming up. His son, Legion (who the X-Teams had battled a few times before, or one of his multipal personalities, at least), had come back. Legion went back in time to kill Erik Lehnsher before he ever became Magneto. However, It was back in Chuck and Eriks early days in Isreal, and being the good samaritan he was, Chuck dove in the way of Legions Psionic blade. Read the Age of Apocalypse page to see what happened. Anyway, after things were set right, the X-Men were suprised to find Juggernaugt crashing in New Jersey, after he had been punched by some guy named "Onslaught"...
After a few months of acting real wierd, Xavier finally snapped, and revieled himself to BE Onslaught (Or at least the host-body for the melevolant entity), as mixed with the evil thoughts and powers of Magneto, which Xavier absorbed months before. It all ended when Onslaughts body was destroyed, leaving one huge, psionic mass. The Avengers, Fantastic Four, and others absorbed Onslaughts mass into thier bodies, leaving the X-Men to destroy Onslaught at the cost of the Heroes' lives. But Onslaught took one last thing before he left: Xaviers powers. The Heroes ended up in a parellel universe, but would eventualy come back. Xavier later surrendered himself into federal custody.
He was given to Bastion, leader of Operation: Zero Tolerance. After being tormanted for months while witnessing his students' downfall at the hands of the killer cyborgs known as Prime-Sentinals, O:ZT was finaly defeated and shut down. However, Xavier dissapeered from the facility, and hasn't been seen since.
However, some bald guy in a wheelchair started collecting mutants and naming them "X-Men". This "Professor X" and his "X-Men" were nothing more than creations of Cerebreo, The X-Mens Mutant detection device given sentiance through Bastion (some-what accidentaly, however). After a dabacle with the Brotherhood of Mutants (Blob, Toad, Post and Mimic) and Cerebro, Chuck was given back his powers and has returned to lead the X-Men in a more combative fashion, tagging alog durring thier most recent encounter with Magneto.
