194th Session
Week #6
It isn't for everyone and not just anyone is selected.  It has taken twelve years to finally be accepted and attend, but I'm proud to say, "Here I am."

Thanks to my buddy, L.T. and his wife, Sheryl, for the suggestions (and providing me with the .gif file) on the new background and also to Carol for the suggestion to put what week I am in on this page.  I also want to extend my sincere thanks to my "Guru", John D. back home, for all of his expertise and suggestions.  I appreciate everyone's input.

Saturday, 8/1/98 and Sunday, 8/2/98
Saturday was a neat day.  After breakfast, did some running around.  Then about 3:30PM, I put on a uniform and did the work thing at the Rocky Gap Country Music Festival.  Great weather!  Hooked the Grunge Boys up with "Special K" to take care of them while I was busy.  They say they had a great time watching the "sights" and listening to the music.  Kevin Sharp, Colin Ray, and Sawyer Brown were the acts for the evening.  Good shows!  Sunday was a relax day.  Finished up projects started on Saturday and got out of town around 3PM.  Stopped by the Festival to drop something off to the Chief.  Had to get back for lobster and clams being brought down FRESH from Maine by one of our classmates.  But, after such a good time Saturday night, the Grunge Boys were real hesitant about leaving.  They were torn between the meal and staying for the rest of the day.  We got back to Quantico around 5:30PM.  Couldn't see any sense in forking out the money for the meal if we weren't going to be there for it.  Great meal.  Lobster was delicious as were the clams.  Topped off with an iced mocha at Gargoyles with several classmates.

Monday, 8/3/98
Halfway!  Start of week #6.  Actual halfway is probably the end of the day on Tuesday.  Need to figure some time to have dinner or lunch with the daughter.  Turns 22 on the 5th.  She'll be going back to WSU on the 17th or so of this month.  Eff Comm this morning, then 2 hrs free.  Need to start thinking of a topic for a ceremonial speech for next Tuesday.  Some interesting topics to choose from; Eulogy, Retirement, Awards.  Took Forensics mid-term.  Boy, is it really that difficult to word a question so someone could actually come up with an answer?   One definitive, correct answer?  Not 2 out of the 4 that sound good?  Abnormal Behavior capped the day.   Best work on the speech tonight and BudgetVille.

Tuesday, 8/4/98
Not a bad day.  Started off with PT, then heard from the US Attorney General's Office for 2 hours.  Just more of the same BS about the stuff from last week.  Sounds like they'll investigate a cop in a heartbeat, but if the complainant has given false statements and such, well, let's just say the prosecution isn't as eager.  Lunch and Eff Comm then Budgeting.  Got some mid-term grades - B's.  Just what I was hoping for.  This evening a group of us went to the Range and busted a few caps.  .45 cal Thompson, .40 cal Glock, .40 cal MP-5 and a 14" Remington 870 shotgun.  What a blast!  That Thompson was "Schweet"!  Take a look by clicking on THIS LINK.  No much happening the rest of the evening.  Dinner and an iced mocha at Gargoyles, then some time working in the CBT.

Wednesday, 8/5/98
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Mandy!  You too, Sheryl!  Not a bad day.  Chemical Agents first thing, Budget, Lunch, then Abnormal Behavior.  Out by 3PM.  Great to have the rest of the day off.  Now, if I can just get some homework completed, it would not have been a wasted day.  Heard someone say that we have 37 days and a wakeup.  Cool!  Roomy and I decided that eating in the cafeteria was not our style tonight.  Did it up right at the local Chinese establishment, topped off, of course, by a trip to Gargoyles.  The time in the CBT scanning the pictures from the Range yesterday.  See them HERE.  Worked on assignments then beddy-bye time.  Mandy is stopping by tomorrow.

Thursday, 8/6/98
Started the day off with Forensics.  Neat lecture on explosives from one of the chemists out of HQ's in Washington, D.C..  One more Challenge run completed!  3.5 miles.  Not a bad run today.  Did all right until I hit those darned hills.  But, it's in the books.  Lunch, Legal Issues and then PT.  Since we had the run this morning, only did stretching exercises.  Mandy came down to Quantico. Gave her the $1 tour!  She couldn't believe how spread out this place is.  Went to dinner at Fat Tuesday's.  Good New Orleans style cooking.  Then I HAD to take her over to Gargoyle's for the usual.  Good seeing her again. She's getting ready to go back to WSU in about 9 days.  Spent some time in the CBT catching up on email and showing one of the classmates how to make a home page and work Geocities.  Finally got Lobo's email address.  He's our South African representative.  What a card!  Well, time to do some homework!  It'll be fun to get home tomorrow and go camping with Brenton and some friends.

Friday, 8/7/98
Outta here by 2:45PM and in C-land by 5:30.  Grab some clothes for the boy and me, over to the Blazer and popup and out to the Gap.  Popup set up and relaxing by about 7PM.  Everyone else was there; Gary and his son, Garrett, Harvey and his son, Josh, my boy, Brenton and Josh's friend, Shane.  3 adults and 4 boys (9-12 years old).  The boys fished some this night and did some biking, went to bed around 10.  Us older boys sat around and quaffed a few cold ones and swapped stories, turned in about 1AM.  Yep, this is what the DOCTOR ordered!
