Doctor's Appointment #8

August 8, 2000

Well, the good news is I progressed (if ya want to call it that!) I am 1 1/2 cm. dilated now (was 1 cm 6 days ago) and according to the OB I saw today, 60% effaced. How the heck can they tell the difference between 60 and 70% effaced anyways?!?! Baby is still -3 station. My blood pressure was good, 90/60. Baby's heartbeat was good, too.

Bad news is, they want me to strongly consider a C Section
=( I don't want one at all! The OB said they all talked about it and know that that's the only surefire way to prevent a delivery like last time around. He said I could play my chances and just wait to go into labor and hopefully I wouldn't have probs, or go for the safe way and have a section. My next appointment is on Monday with my primary OB, so I basically have to decide by then.

For now, this week I am going to do my darndest to go into labor on my own, and pray something happens!! I guess if nothing happens by Monday, I'll ask if I can be induced, because they said that the size of the baby is also a big factor if I will have the same probs as last time (why in the world they didn't give me that option is beyond me though...but I'll check with my primary OB on Monday). They can't give me that load of b/s that my cervix isn't ripe, because it obviously is if I am progressing. Keep your fingers crossed for me, until next week...
