I can't take any credit for this one either, but taking credit is not something I'm concerned about. Crafting is fun, whether it be in your home or in cyberspace, the joy of creativity is its own reward.
Since you can't tell by the photograph just exactly where this is, let me tell you! This was a way-cool idea Cindy gave me!
Do you have a "dead-space" cabinet somewhere in your kitchen, like maybe that little one above your refrigerator? That's where this is! That little cabinet was one I couldn't reach without either climbing on the countertop (which I'm still prone to do...) or dragging out a step stool. So I had been storing old bank statements, check stubs, and other miscellaneous papers up there. You know, stuff I rarely ever needed to get into to.
I boxed up all those papers, carried it out to the shed, and made good use of that cabinet space! First off, I took the doors off the cabinet, then painted the inside to match the trim in my kitchen. I also painted a 1/2" thick board the length of the inside of the cabinet, which I used as a "step" shelf inside the shelf. That way, some of my nick-nacks are elevated so they can be seen from standing on the floor. Does that make sense? (I may be a writer, but writing "How-To's" is definitely NOT my specialty! LOL!
I then simply filled up my new shelf with Kitchen nick-nacks and there ya go... a display cabinet!
