My Perspectives... (and now YOURS)
This is the area where I will keep all my ideas and stories.
Hopefully, this is also where I will add your views on what its
like to be full-figured person in today's society. This section
was originally geared towards women, but since I have had such
a huge response from men, I have decided to change the layout
and incorporate their views too!
Due to a tremendous response (which I am very thankful for :)
I have decided to add an easy submission method. Please click
here to be connected to the area to submit
your stories or perspectives. This is NOT my guestbook.
Thanks again for your support.
Stories by Me
"How I got this way" Added November 17, 1998
So, this is my first stab at writing my "perspectives".
I apologize in advance if my writing style frightens you :) -
I'm working on it though. And since I have about a million things
I feel like saying through this website, I should have plenty
of practice to get better.
Basically, this story is just a synopsis of how I ended up my
size and confident (which really shouldn't be such a rare combination).
I hope you enjoy it!
"Is there anybody out there?"
Updated January 6, 1999
So, this is my second stab at writing... It is about
my quest and desire to find a full-figured role model in today's
society and subsequent failure to find one.
I do hope you enjoy it and I also
hope it makes you think...
"Why are we supposed to
be miserable?" Added November 30, 1998
Here's a story about something that REALLY bothers me.
Its the assumption that just because you are overweight, you
are miserable and depressed. Again, these are perceptions fueled
by the media and commercials for diet aids - but sometimes we
are own worst enemy.
I'd love to hear from people who feel the same as me on this
subject - it will encourage those who don't to rethink why they're
letting themselves feel down. Enjoy!
"My favorite sayings"
Added November 30, 1998
This is a compilation of my favorite sayings that I have
been collecting over the years. They are extremely positive and
every time I read over them, I feel fantastic. I hope they have
a similar effect on your!
"Beauty is in the Eye of The
Beholder" Added May 04, 1999
I submitted a question to a bulletin board frequented
by men who preferred their women large. Their responses and my
observations are included.
"Air Travel Sucks" Added May 04, 1999
Guess what this one's about!! Yes, I love to travel,
but I hate planes with a passion for the sheer uncomfortableness
of it - made worse by my size! If you'd like to listen to my
gripes, check this story out.
Visitor submissions!
Please note that I am starting a new format. I am only
going to start listing the stories submitted - no more commentaries.
Sorry. Hopefully the titles will be descriptive enough.

"Being a BBW, Feeling a BBW"
Added January 20, 1999
Here's a terrific story from a terrific BBW very active
in the fat-acceptance movement. I am honored that Tina has submitted
a story here!
Her story chronicles the evolution into feeling like a BBW -
it also discusses the various issues regarding how we act to
how others percieve us.
"Baggage Check" Added January 20, 1999
Okay, here's something a bit different. Its not a story
that EVERYBODY will like, but I did. Its a story about a young
man's tortuous struggle through adolescence through to finally
adulthood, where he made a committment to change his body (the
source of his frustration).
The reason I say that not everyone will like it is because the
major emphasis in the fat-acceptance movement, is Acceptance,
no matter your size. Unfortunately, Lee could not find that acceptance
until he lost the weight.
"Sarah's story" Added January 15, 1999
The first submission since my form-system is up and running!!!
Sarah's story comes all the way from the UK and it tells of her
journey to learning how to stand up for herself in a society
that constantly condemns fat people.
What's great about this story is it shows that people can be
cruel the world-over and there seems to be prejudices everywhere.
This knowledge should strengthen our determination to "not
take it anymore". Please enjoy!
"Viv's Take on Things" Updated January 11, 1999
Another very attractive and positive woman has graciously
contributed her perspectives to me! She has a terrific outlook
on life and her confidence is infectious.
She is a friend of mine, and all my nagging has finally paid
off - she has broken down and given me a picture. Please take
another look at her story and her beautiful picture!
"I almost gave up today" Added December 9, 1998
I love this one!! This is a story I am sure almost everyone
can relate to - and fortunately MikeyC puts in a very funny light.
It describes the frustration about the size of airline seats
- 'nuff said! There's a picture of the author included - handsome
fella'. I do have a personal footnote to this story... please
see end.
"Vicky's Letter" Added December 9, 1998
This is a very personal account of a young woman's struggle
with her weight and environment. And even though it's written
as letter, I have been given permission (and a request) to post
it.
Its a very touching story, and gives another perspective on how
one's struggle with your weight can affect, and by affected by,
many different aspects of your life.
"Joe's Story" Added December 9, 1998
Here's a story from someone who I have met via this site.
He is a terrific guy and I am really glad that I have (finally!)
convinced him to write a story for me.
It describes the struggle to gain confidence in yourself when
there are so many outside negative factors influencing you. His
picture and e-mail is included (yes, he's single girls!).
"Wallace Lee's Story" Added December 9, 1998
Here's something a little different, but I thought important
to include, nonetheless. This is a story written by a very good
friend of mine, who subsequently is thin. But as you will see,
things haven't always been that way.
This conveys something that all of us have probably dealt with
and that is parental pressures relating to food. Please enjoy
it and if you would like to send her an e-mail, please forward
to me and I will pass it on to her. Thanks!
"Carol's story"Added November 24, 1998
Here's a great story submitted by a very beautiful BBW
from her old website. Its filled with humor and an important
metaphor.
I hope you enjoy as much as I did! Her picture and e-mail address
are included if you'd like to send her your comments. Thanks!
THE SHAPE WOMEN ARE IN
Did you know...
- If shop mannequins were real women, they'd be too thin
to menstruate
- There are 3 billion women who don't look like supermodels
and only eight who do.
- Marilyn Monroe wore a size 12.
- If Barbie was a real woman, she'd have to walk on all
fours due to her proportions.
- The average American woman weighs 144 lbs. and wears
between a size 12 and 14.
- One out of every four college-aged women has an eating
disorder.
- The models in the magazines are airbrushed -- they're
not perfect!!
- Models who twenty years ago weighed 8% less than the
average woman, today weigh 23% less.
Here's the cover a birthday card drawn recently drawn for me
by a lovely man I work with, Victor. The caption read:
Happy Birthday to "More Than Just A Pretty Face"
What's really funny about this is that he is/was totally
unaware of my website!!
