THE DIARY - November

Friday, November 1, 1878

I went to Mrs. GOBINs to see her. I went to Joe THOMAS but he was not at home. I went to George COPLANs & Joseph POWERS to see them to haul me some coal. I handed Joe two dollars and twenty five cents to pay for the coal. I sold Wm KEEGAN twenty five cents worth of med. Reuben DUNCAN paid me four dollars and a half on acct. I let Reuben WHITLEYs wife have some med for Bertha.

Saturday, November 2, 1878

I went to Mrs. GOBINs to see her. I went to Clem STEVENS. I signed some receipts that John FORDYCE sent me against Sarah & Docia ERNEST. I handed them to Charley CRAWLEY. I let Bell STEVENS have some med. I sold Mr. RAY fifty cents worth of med. I paid WIER & ELLIOTT one dollar for Sugar. Joseph TRUEBLOOD paid me five dollars and one half on acct. It was a fair day.

Sunday, November 3, 1878

I let John PERSINGER have some med for his son. I went to the Christian church. I gave the church five cents. I let Riley PIETY have some med for July. I let Tom STEVENS have some med for himself & Cora. I let W.D. WIER have some med. I went to Sunday school. I went to David POUNDs to see Johnnie. Riley PIETY paid me seventy five cents for med he got today for July. It was a fair day.

Monday, November 4, 1878

I went to Tom STEVENS to see his wife. I went to David POUNDs to see his son Johnnie. I let Alex WINGLER have some med. I sent Wm Shoemaker some med. I let Lafe TRUEBLOOD have some med. Joe POWERS hauled me a load of coal. He handed me the remainder of the two dollars and twenty five cents I handed him last Friday. I let Reason HUNT have some med. Orlandorf KIRCHIVAL paid me two dollars his sister Matties acct. Was a fair day.

Tuesday, November 5, 1878

I went to David POUNDs to see Johnnie. I went to S.E.K. FISKs to see his wife. I let Calvin HANLY have some med for Joe. I let James ELLIOTT have some med for Roscoe. I let Wm KEEGAN have some med. I paid WIER & ELLIOTT thirty cents for oysters & crackers. It was a fair day.

Wednesday, November 6, 1878

I let Sammy GOBIN have some med. I let Tom STEVENS have some med. I went to Sam FISKs to see his wife. I went to Joseph THOMPSONs to see him. I let Wm SHOEMAKER have some med. I sent David SHOEMAKER some med. It was a fair day.

Thursday, November 7, 1878

I went to S.E.K. FISKs to see his wife. I let Levi JOHNSONs wife have some med. I went to Calvin HANLYs to see his wife, she presented him an eleven pound boy. I let Wm PADDOCK have some med for his wife. I let J. WIER have some med. I paid ten cents for crackers. I went to Johnnie BROWNs to see him. I let Lois have some med. [Weather report unreadable]

Friday, November 8, 1878

J.L. WATSON paid me seventy five cents on acct. I sent Charley McDONALD some med for which he paid me one dollar and thirty cents. I sent Sammy GOBIN some med. Wm BAILEY brought me two gallons of Sorghdun molasses. I went to Charley McDONALDs to see him. I let Mary Ann FRAIKS have some med for which she paid me twenty cents. I moved my coal onto the floor in the woodhouse. It was a clear day.

Saturday, November 9, 1878

I let Hiram GRIFFIN have some med for Will. I let Wash: POUND have some med for the Baby. I let Adam BUTLER have some med. I let Albert ELLIOTT have some med. I reapplied the bandages and splints to Marion FRAIKS arm that was broken three weeks ago today. J. WIER paid me sixty cents on account. I went to Calvin HANLEYs to see his wife. I paid twenty cents for a box of collars. It was a fair day.

Sunday, November 10, 1878

I let Tom STEVENS have some med for himself & Cora. I went to the Christian church. I gave the church five cents. I went to sunday school. I went to John DEVOLs to see his wife. It was a little cloudy.

Monday, November 11, 1878

I went to Scynthia ROBINSONs to see Hiram ROSWELLs wife. She presented him a girl. I sold H.A. SHOEMAKER ten cents worth of med. I paid twenty five cents for oysters and thirty cents for vinegar. I let Press KESTER have some med for Lois. I let A.J. HARMONs wife have some med for Jack. I handed Johnnie McCARTY one dollar to get me some stove pipes. [Weather report unreadable]

Tuesday, November 12, 1878

I went to George COPELANDs and he gave me his note for ten and a half dollars. I went to James BOWANs and took dinner. I let them have some med for Fred & another of the boys. Levi OXENDINE promised to let me have twelve bushels of corn for what he owed me. William HUNT brought me a pig for which I agreed to allow him three dollars on what he owed me. I let J. WIER have some med for his father. I let Mary Ann FRAIKS have some med. Nannie DIX paid me 25 cts for med. I sold Wm. HAUGER ten cents worth of med. It cleared by P.M.

Wednesday, November 13, 1878

I went to David KILIANs & he agreed to haul me a load of corn tomorrow. I stopped at Calvin HANLEYs a few moments and got a handkerchief I left there the other evening. I sold Isaac BEAUCHAMP fifteen cents worth of med. Charley McDONALD paid me five dollars on acct. I went to George COPELANDs awhile P.M. I stopped at Marion KIRKHAMs to see his wife as I came home. Lafe TRUEBLOOD came to my house to get some med & was taken worse & spent the night with me. [Weather report unreadable]

Thursday, November 14, 1878

I let Lafe TRUEBLOOD have some med. I sent Mrs. GOBIN some med. I let David KILIAN have some med for his boy. David KILIAN brought me a load of corn for which I agreed to allow him five dollars on what he owed me. I let James HAUGER have some med. I paid five cents for Pea Nuts and twenty cents for Coal Oil. I went to the Christian church to hear INGRAM at night. I paid twenty five cents for a memoranda. It was a fair day.

Friday, November 15, 1878

I let John HUNT have some med for which & on account he paid me seventy five cents. V. MORGAN Jr. paid me five dollars and fifty cents on his & Rhoda & Ransom & Willie TRUEBLOODs accounts. I let him have some med for Rhoda TRUEBLOOD. I went to Press KESTERs awhile A.M. I sent BUNTIN & ARMSTRONG ten dollars and an order for some med. I sent Clem STEVENS & wife some med. I sold Mr. RAY sixty cents worth of med. It was a little rainy.

Saturday, November 16, 1878

I sent Mrs. GOBIN some med. I paid thirty cents for Milk & Butter. It sprinkled rain most of the day.

Sunday, November 17, 1878

I sold Stephen BRIDWELL ten cents worth of med. I let James HAUGER have some med. I went to the Christian church to hear James MORGAN lecture on the Divinity of the Bible. I gave MORGAN twenty five cents. I went to the Baptist church to Sunday school. I let Calvin HANLEY have some med for his wife. It was a cloudy day.

Monday, November 18, 1878

I went to Mrs. GOBINs to see her. I paid S.C. RYNERSON twenty five cents for a Possum Plaster for Emma. I went to Adam BUTLERs to see Mattie. I stopped at Calvin HANLYs to let his wife have some med. I let Johnny BROWNs wife have some med. I let Tom STEVENS have some med. I let Annie ROMINE have some med. I paid fifty cents for beef. I went to Press KESTERs to see Lois. I let Press KESTER have some med. It was cloudy....

Tuesday, November 19, 1878

I went to Mrs. GOBINs to see her. I went to Press KESTERs and brought my black mare Nannie home from there. She had been there on pasture. I paid WEIR & ELLIOTT seventy five cents for a wash tub. I let Sam BURNAM have some med. I let V. MORGAN Jr. have some med for Rhoda TRUBLOOD. I sold Early PIETY some twenty five cents worth of med. I handed Emma three dollars. It was a fair day.

Wednesday, November 20, 1878

I paid Press NASH fifteen cents for tallow. I went to Sullivan and John N. FORDYCE paid me seventeen dollars Sarah and Docia ERNESTs accts. I stopped at Shelburn and Ed LISTON gave me his note for fifteen dollars and a half Joe THOMASes acct. I paid ten cents for eatables. I sold Joe WRIGHT fifty cents worth of med. I went to Mary WEEKS to see James. It was a fair day.

Thursday, November 21, 1878

I went to Cal HANLEYs to see his wife. I let Hiram ROSWELL have some med for the baby. I sent James WEEKS some med. I went to Preston NASHes and paid fifty cents for five pounds of lard. I went to Zadok HUNTs & got Josephas WIERs book the History of Flavius Josephus. It rained a little.

Friday, November 22, 1878

I went to Cal HANLEYs. I let Tom WIER have some med. I let Mary WEEKS have some med for James. I paid ten cents for Nutmegs. George BROCK paid me one dollar on acct. I sent Clem STEVENS some med. I went to GOBINs Mill and got fifty pounds of flour and agreed to give their account Credit for the Same. I let Wm. SHOEMAKER have some med. I let Cy CHOWNING have some med. I sent Ed STEVENS some med. I paid seventy cents for beef. I gave J.M. TALBOTT an order on Henry FRAKES for twenty five dollars. It was a fair day.

I let John CLOUSE have some med. I sent Docia ERNEST some med. I let Wm. SHOEMAKER have some med. I went to Charley McDONALDs to see him. It was a fair day.

Sunday, November 24, 1878

I went to Adam BUTLERs to see Mattie. I sent Wm. STRANNAHAN some med. I let Press WEEKS have some med. I went to the Baptist church to Sunday School. It was a fair day.

Monday, November 25, 1878

I went to Adam BUTLERs to see Mattie. I went to Henry FRAKES. J.M. TALBOTT returned an order that I had given him of twenty five dollars with a credit of twenty one dollars and sixty cents. The order was on Henry FRAKES. I let J. WIER have some med for his father. I sold V. MORGAN Jr. twenty five cents worth of med. I let Jennings BURGESS have some med. It was a little cloudy.

Tuesday, November 26, 1878

I sold Jennings BURGESS one dollar and twenty five cents worth of med. He started down the Wabash on a hunting expedition. Tom WIER paid me twenty five cents on acct. I went to Adam BUTLERs to see Mattie. I let Mary Ann FRAIKS have some med. I went to Riley LISTONs to see Jack ROMINEs wife. I sold WIER & ELLIOTT twenty five cents worth of jugs. It was a little cloudy.

Wednesday, November 27, 1878

I sold Stephen BRIDWELL twenty five cents worth of med. I paid five cents for paper. I went to the Shoeshop and had James HAUGER to repair my boots. It rained & snowed most of the day.

Thursday, November 28, 1878

I went to Adam BUTLERs to see Mattie. I let Tom STEVENS have some med. I let James WEEKS have some med. I Sold Wm. KESTER fifty cents worth of med. It cleared up P.M.

Friday, November 29, 1878

I went to Terre Haute. I paid BUNTIN & ARMSTRONG four dollars and ten cents for med & on acct which made us even up to date. I paid one dollar for postage stamps. I paid forty cents for dinner for my horse & myself. I went to Press KESTERs to see his wife & Lois. I handed Emma twenty dollars. It was a fair day.

Saturday, November 30, 1878

I went to Adam BUTLERs to see Mattie. I sent Mont STEVENS some med for Edgar. I went to Press KESTERs to see his wife & Lois. I pulled a tooth for Leander WILSONs wife. I loaned John SHOEMAKER thirty cents. I paid thirty five cents for pork. It was a fair day.
