THE DIARY - May

Wednesday, May 1, 1878

I went to Terre Haute. I drew sixteen dollars and sixty six cents pay for treating the poor for Nov. Dec. Jan. & Feb. I paid five dollars and forty cents for instruments and med. I paid three dollars for a hat. I paid forty cents for dinner for me and my horse. I stopped at Harvey POUNDs. Nannie DIX paid me seven dollars and seventy five cents on account. I paid my tax four dollars and two cents. I paid nine cents for postage stamps. It was a fair day.

Thursday, May 2, 1878

I let Wm HAUGER have some med for Edna. I sold Riley POGUE ten cents worth of med. I let Miss Emma WIER have some med. I paid ten cents for eatables. It was fair A.M. rained about dark.

Friday, May 3, 1878

I went to Press KESTERs awhile P.M. I took supper there. I let Chart MORGAN have some med for Francis. I let Wm KEEGAN have some med. I went to James McHUGHES to see Sarah Francis. It rained some A.M.

I went to Stephen BRIDWELLs to see his baby. I let Marion KIRKHAM have some med for his wife. I went to Elizabeth TRUEBLOODs to see her. I took my clothes to Sallie FRAIKS to have them washed. I agreed to credit Mary Anns acct by fourteen dollars for washing she had done for me. It rained a little.

I went to Elizabeth TRUEBLOODs to see her. I let Wm KEEGAN have some med. James HAUGER repaired my pill sacks for me. I went to the Christian church to social meeting. I saw Miss Katie GOBIN home. I let James CUTSINGER have some med for his daughter. It was a fair day.

Friday, May 10, 1878

I let Wm BAILEY have some med for Press. I pulled a tooth for Roe CUTSINGER. I pulled two teeth for Gilbert DEVOL. I went to Elizabeth TRUEBLOODs to see her. It was a fair cool day.

Saturday, May 11, 1878

I let W.R. MORGAN have some med for his wife. J.F. QUINN paid me one dollar on acct. I sold J.F. QUINN twenty five cents worth of med. I went with Tom WIER to Frank CLARKs to see a cow Tom thought of buying. I let Wm HUNT have some med. I sent Melissa HUNT some med. [No weather report today].

I went to James ELLIOTTs to see his wife she presented him a girl. I went to Lafe TRUEBLOODs to see him. I went to the Christian church to hear LAYMAN. I gave the church ten cents. I went to Early PIETYs to see his mother. I let Chart MORGAN have some med for Francis. I went to Lafe TRUEBLOODs to meet Dr. STARK. It was a cloudy A.M. Fair P.M.

I went to Lafe TRUEBLOODs to see him. I sent BUNTIN & ARMSTRONG a order for some med. The order contained five dollars. I went to Press KESTERs awhile A.M. I let his wife have some med. I let David POUND have some med for Johnnie. I let Johnithan KIRKHAM have some med for his son. I let Miss Emma WIER have some med. I let Ed STEVENS have some med. I went to Mrs. GOBINs awhile P.M. It Frosted last night. It was fair A.M. cloudy P.M.

I went to Lafe TRUEBLOODs to see his wife. I let Solomon HAUGER have some med for Roscoe. I got some Aloes of [off] S.C. RYNERSON for which I agreed to credit his acct by forty cents. Nannie DIX paid me fifty cents on acct. I went to Press KESTERs. I let him & his wife have some med. I let Miss Emma WIER have some med. I went to Lafe TRUEBLOODs to see him & his wife. It was a fair day.

I went to W.D. WIERs to see Emma. I went to Mary WEEKs to see Minnie. I went to Lafe TRUEBLOODs to see him and his wife. I went to Tom STEVENS to see him. I sent Roy BUTTES some med. I let James HAUGER have some med. I let James McHUGH have some med for Sarah Francis. S.M. GOPIN had me to examine him with a view to having his life insured. I sold James BEAUCHAMP fifteen cents worth of med. I let Solomon HAUGER have some med for John & Roscoe. It was cloudy Rained some.

I let Minnie WEEKS have some med. I went to W.D. WIERs to see Emma and her mother. I let Amanda HARMON have some med. I went to Press KESTERs awhile P.M. I went to J.K. CARRs and handed him my certificate as regards S.M. GOPINs health for which CARR paid me one dollar. James ELLIOTT put in my time on the road for which I agreed to credit his acct for two dollars. It was a cloudy day.

It was a clear day.

I let Theodore HANDY have some med for his wife. I sold Robert PIETY twenty five cents worth of med. It was a fair day.

I let Theo HANDY have some med for his wife. I let Johnithan KIRKHAM have some med. I let Eliza WIER have some med. I went to Temperance meeting. I saw Miss Kathie GOBIN home. Dr. TALBOTT returned from Memphis where he had been with a Flat boat load of corn. It was a fair day.

I went to Wm PADDOCKs to see his wife. She presented him a boy. I let Ben DeBAUN have some med for his wife. Press KESTER brought me some M.T. /s. I let John BROOKBANK have some med. I went to Ben INGERSONs to see him. Ed SHATTUCK paid me seven dollars and fifty cents his mothers account. It was a little rainy.

I went to Asa HAMILTONs to see his wife. She presented him a girl. I let Chris ASH have some med for his wife. I pulled two teeth for Scott PADDOCKs wife for which she paid me twenty five cents. I let David POUND have some med for Johnnie. I went to the Baptist church to prayer meeting at night. Dr. TALBOTT spent the night with me. It was a little cloudy.

I went to Early PIETYs to see his wife & daughter. I let Charley DEVOL have some med. I sold John YEAGER fifty cents worth of med. I brought some clothes from Sallie HARMON that she had repaired for me. I paid fifty cents for a thundermug. I went to the Literary at night. I sent Homer MORGANs baby some med. Dr. TALBOTT spent the day & night with me he was sick. I let J.F. QUINN have some med. It was a little rainy.

I went to Clem STEVENS to see Ed. I let Sarah ERNEST have some med. I went to the Christian Church to social meeting A.M. I let James HAUGER have some med. I spent the Evening with Miss Emma WIER. It was a fair day.

Monday, May 27, 1878

I let James HAUGER have some med. I sold Nannie DIX some med > 25 cents worth. I went to take my clothes to Sallie FRAIKS to have them washed. I went to Press KESTERs and planted some watermelon. I planted some melons at W.D. WIERs. It was a fair day.

I let James HAUGER have some med. I let A.J. HARMON have some med for Etta. I went to the widow WATKINS to see Phil CRUMM. He gave me an order on Isaac BEAUCHAMP for fourteen dollars and fifty cents. i stopped at Perry WILLIAMS to see his wife and child. I stopped at Clem STEVENS to see Docea ERNEST. I let Wm PADDOCK have some med for his wife. I went to Press KESTERs. I let his wife have some med. I let Johnithan KIRKHAM have some med for his wife. I let James McHUGH have some med for Sarah F. I paid WEIR & ELLIOTT twenty cents for a box of collars. It was a fair day.

I sold Rob HAUGER ten cents worth of med. I sold James RICE ninety cents worth of med. I let Ben INGERSON have some med for his wife. He gave me his note for eighteen dollars and a half. I let James WEEKS have some med. I went fishing with James HAUGER & Harry CLIFTON. I sold A.J. HARMON five cents worth of Arsenic. I went to Temperance meeting. I paid my dues five cents. It was a fair day.
