THE DIARY - June

Saturday, June 1, 1878

I went to Wm PADDOCKs to see his wife. I stopped at James KIRBYs to see Rube WHITLEYs wife. I sent Emily PIETY some med. I paid Rebecca WIER three dollars in money and two dollars on acct board bill up to today. I went to Press KESTERs awhile P.M. I went to literary. J.F. QUINN was (wild?). It was a fair day.

Sunday, June 2, 1878

I went to the Christian church to social meeting. I went to Hiram ROSWELLs to see his child. I let Joe FAGG have some med. Wm HAUGER paid me five dollars borrowed money that he got a few days ago. It was a little cloudy.

Monday, June 3, 1878

I let Mary Ann FRAIKS have some med. I went to Early PIETYs to see his mother. I let Hiram ROSWELL have some med for his little girl. It was a fair day.

Tuesday, June 4, 1878

I let James HAUGER have some med. I let Emma WIER have some med. I let Tom STEVENS wife have some med for Cora. I let Wm BAILEY have some med for Press. I went to Wm PADDOCKs to see his wife & baby. It was a fair day.

Wednesday, June 5, 1878

I let James HAUGER have some med. I let Colonel FARRAND have some med for a (?). I went to Early PIETYs to see his mother. I let Early have some med for Ophelia. I went to Tom STEVENS to see Cora. I stopped at Wm PADDOCKs and let his wife have some med. I went to Cynthia ROBINSONs to see Hiram ROSWELLs child. I sent John SHOEMAKER some med. It was a fair day.

Thursday, June 6, 1878

I let Wm HAUGER have some med. I let Albert ELLIOTT have some med. I let Homer MORGAN have some med for his wife. I went to Early PIETYs to see his mother. I went to Press KESTERs a few moments and hoed some melon vines. I let Jack HARMONs wife have some med for Bell. I paid A.J. HARMON fifty cents which made us even up to date. I took supper at A.J. HARMONs. J.F. QUINN returned to Prairie Creek. It was a fair day.

Friday, June 7, 1878

I paid A.J. HARMON twenty five cents for one dozen oats. I let David SHOEMAKER have some med. I let Frank DAVENPORT have some med. I let Ben DeBAUN have some med for his wife. I sent Hiram GRIFFIN some med. I let Johnithan KIRKHAM have some med for his wife. I let Elijah FRAIKS have some med. I sent John SHOEMAKER some med. I sent Lafe TRUEBLOOD some med. I took dinner at Press KESTERs. I let old Mrs. PIETY have some med. It was cloudy A.M. Rained some P.M.

Saturday, June 8, 1878

I went to Early PIETYs and let his wife have some med. I let Emily PIETY have some med. I went to N.H. RINGs & John MOOREs trying to collect. I went to Lafe TRUEBLOODs to see him. I went to Jr. V. MORGANs to see Ransom TRUEBLOOD. I let Wm HUNT have some med. I got an ounce of Cinchonidia of [off] Sam RYNERSON for which I agreed to give him credit for eighty five cents. I went to James CUTSINGERs to see his wife. Dr. TALBOTT send old Mrs. PIETY some med. It was a cloudy day.

Sunday, June 9, 1878

I sold Albert ELLIOTT seventy five cents worth of med. He paid me twenty five cents on acct. I sent Lafe TRUEBLOOD some med. I went to Ben DeBAUNs to see Lorinda PIETY. I stopped at Press KESTERs awhile. I let Press have some med. I sold Seph WIER seventy five cents worth of med. I let James HAUGER have some med. It rained some.

Monday, June 10, 1878

Thomas STEVENS paid me fifteen dollars on a note and acct. I let Leander WILSON have some med. I let Press KESTER have some med for Lois. I let David POUND have some med for Johnnie. I went to Ben DeBAUN’s to see Lorinda PIETY. It was fair A.M. rainy P.M.

Tuesday, June 11, 1878

I went to Ben DeBAUNs to see Lorinda PIETY. I went to Terre Haute. I left an order with BUNTIN & ARMSTRONG. I paid them fifteen dollars and left an order for some med. I bargained for a suit of clothes with L. GOODMAN Jr. and paid him five dollars on them. I paid forty cents for dinner for me and my horse. I paid thirty five cents for having my watch & chain repaired. I stopped at Ben DeBAUNs as I came home. I drew twelve dollars and fifty cents pay from the county for the practice of the Poor. It was a little cloudy.

Wednesday, June 12, 1878

I went to Ben DeBAUNs to see Lorinda PIETY. I let Press KESTER have a note of J.W. JOHNSON for one dollar and fifty cents. N.H. RING paid me five dollars and fifteen cents on a note. S.C. RYNERSON let me have 25cts worth of (Fl. Ext Cubebs?), which made us even up to date. I let Wm R. MUNDELL have some med for his daughter. I went to Temperance meeting. I paid my dues five cents. It was a fair day.

Thursday, June 13, 1878

I sold John HUNT twenty five cents worth of med for his wife. I let Solomon HAUGER have some med. I let Mary Ann FRAIKS have some med. Tom HAMILTON brought me some goods from BUNTIN & ARMSTRONG. I let George COPLANDs wife have some med. I sent Perry WILLIAMS some med for his little girl. It was a fair day.

Friday, June 14, 1878

I went to Rube CLARKs to see him. I sold John BROWN thirty five cents worth of med. I let John L. WATSON have some med. I let Mont STEVENS have some med for his baby. I went to the Baptist church to Prayer meeting. It was a fair day.

Saturday, June 15, 1878

I let James HAUGER have some med for his mother. I let Bell HARMON have some med. I went to John SHOEMAKERs to see him. Thomas MONTGOMERY paid me five dollars on acct. I went to David POUNDs to see him & Johnnie. I let Wm GOBIN have some med. I sold James LOVELACE thirty cents worth of med. I let James RICE have some med. I paid fifty cents for sugar, ten cents for blacking and thirty cents for postage stamps. I went to Literary. It was a fair day.

Sunday, June 16, 1878

Wm GOBIN paid me sixty cents on acct. I let V. MORGAN Jr. have some med for Marcoe. James RICE paid me fifty cents on account. I let Z.J. HUNT have some med. I went to Press KESTERs awhile P.M. I took dinner at Milt YEAGERs. I went to Baptist church A.M. to hear MARLOW & to Sunday school P.M. I gave the Sunday school ten cents. It was a fair day.

Monday, June 17, 1878

I went to Press KESTERs and helped him take some honey. I also moved my sow in the pen with one of Press'es. I went to Sallie FRAIKS to take my clothes to have them washed. I let Mary Ann FRAIKS have some med. I let Charley DEVOL have some med. I went to Perry WILLIAMS to see Tommy. I let Clem STEVENS have some med. I stopped and let Ed STEVENS have some med. It rained a little.

Tuesday, June 18, 1878

I let J.F. QUINN have some med. I went to Press KESTERs and hoed our melon patch. I went to James McHUGHes to see Hugh McBRIDE. I let James McHUGH have some med. It was a fair day.

Wednesday, June 19, 1878

I let James ELLIOTT have some med for Maggie. I went to Temperance meeting. I went to Perry WILLIAMS to see Tommy. It was a fair day.

Thursday, June 20, 1878

I let Lawrence TURNER have some med. I went to Perry WILLIAMS to see Tommy. I helped Dr. TALBOTT transfer Jack HARMONs (bees?). I sent Clem STEVENS some med for his wife and Ed. It was a little cloudy.

Friday, June 21, 1878

I went to Perry WILLIAMS to see Tommy. I went to Press KESTERs awhile P.M. Press paid me five dollars. I let James ELLIOTT have some med for Maggie. I let Jack HARMON have some med. It was cool & a little cloudy.

Saturday, June 22, 1878

I went to Terre Haute. I paid BUNTIN & ARMSTRONG four dollars and five cents for med. I paid twenty four dollars for clothing. I paid one dollar and fifty cents for marriage license. I paid thirty cents for dinner for me and stall room for my horse. I came home and went to Perry WILLIAMS to see Tommy. I let S.M. GAPEN have some med for Addie. I let John DEVOL have some med for his wife. I went to Dan FRAIKS to see him. It was a fair day.

Sunday, June 23, 1878

I went to Press KESTERs awhile. I went to Honey Creek church and Reverend WHITLOCK joined Emma WIER and I in matrimony for which I paid him two dollars. I went to Wm GARDNERs to see Molly. I let Press KESTER have some med for Lois. [No weather report for his wedding day.]

Monday, June 24, 1878

I went to Sallie FRAIKS to see her. I let Hiram GRIFFIN have some med. I let Tom STEVENS have some med. I sent Lafe TRUEBLOOD some med. I let Colonel FARRAND have some med for his little boy. Wm POGUE paid me seventy five cents Riley PIETYs acct. I went to Wm GARDNERs to see Mollie. It was a warm, clear day.

Tuesday, June 25, 1878

I let J.W. HAUGER have some med. I sent Addie GAPEN some med. I let Press KESTER have some med for Lois. I went to Temperance meeting and heard a lecture by Professor HASKELL. It was a clear day.

Wednesday, June 26, 1878

I sent Mollie GARDNER some med. I paid one dollar for sugar. I let Willie WIER have some med. I let Tom STEVENS have some med for himself & Cora. V. MORGAN Jr. paid me thirty nine dollars as administrator on T.P. & E.E. TRUEBLOODs estate. I let Ben INGERSON have some med. I sold Cal HANLY fifty cents worth of med. I let Mont STEVENS have some med for himself & baby. I took supper at Z.J. HUNTs. I let Ben DeBAUN have some med for Gip DIX. It was a fair day.

Thursday, June 27, 1878

I went to Press KESTERs to see Lois. I went to Clem STEVENS to see his wife. I came by David POUNDs to see Johnnie. I let Wm JOHNSONs wife have some med for her baby. I handed Emma five dollars. She handed one dollar back. I went to Melissa HUNTs to see about getting some cherries. I went to Clem STEVENS to meet Dr. WIER. I took supper at Press KESTERs. It was a fair day.

Friday, June 28, 1878

I went to Press KESTERs to see Lois. I went to Clem STEVENS to see his wife. I went by Tom STEVENS and brought some fish. I stopped at Ben INGERSONs to see his mothers finger. I let Wm GARDNER have some med for Mollie. I sold Reubin LISTON twenty five cents worth of med. Charley DEVOL picked some cherries for me at S. ELLIOTTs for which I allowed him fifty cents on account. It was a little cloudy.

Saturday, June 29, 1878

I went to Press KESTERs to see Lois. I went to Clem STEVENS to see his wife. I let Jas. F. QUINN have some med. I paid one dollar and fifty cents for a money (lock?). I let Flora PIETY have some med. I let Jake ELLIOTTs son have some med. I went to Chris ASHes to see him. I let Early PIETY have some med. I went to the School-house to Literary. It showered a little.

Sunday, June 30, 1878

I went to Press KESTERs to see him & Lois. I sold John HUNT eighty cents worth of med. I sent Sallie HARMON some med for Tommie. I went to the Christian Church to hear WOLFE Preach. I gave the church ten cents. I let Wm GARDNER have some med for Mollie. It was a fair day.
