Researching descendants of William AMIS (1811-1881) died in Henry County and buried near Greenwood with his wife. The property on which these graves are located is scheduled for development and the graves will be moved in accordance with Georgia law. The law requires that a genealogical investigation be conducted and descendants be notified for comments. William Amis had a son William W., who adopted a son, Henry M. Amis. Henry had a number of children, several of whom were living in McDonough until recently: Raymond Daniel AMIS, Wm W. AMIS, Mrs. C Peek (Lela) JOHNSON, Mrs. John (Lila Mae) FARGASON, Mrs. Charles (Eloise) MANN, Mrs. Levi (Carolyn) TURNER. William Amis also had a daughter, I believed named Elizabeth Jane, who married James Thomas Ellis in 1856. I have been unable to locate any further information on this line of the family. Please let me know if you are a member of this family or can provide any information on the family. Call 770-270-1192 or e-mail the above address. Thank you. Jeffrey L. I am looking for information on the family of John Moore and Hannah Ewing. They were married on November 17, 1839 in Newton County. They are in Henry County in 1840 and 1850. They had the following children in Henry County: Robert 1840 James 1842 Jane 1843 Frances 1845 Jackson 1848 Sarah Ann 1853 John 1854 Owens 1855 William 1859 I don't know where this family is in 1860. Robert joins the CSA in Paulding County but I have yet found anything on them there. In 1870, they are in Polk County, only the father is now Jackson Moore. The rest of the family is still the same. My grandfather was listed in newspaper legal May 4, 1841 Baldwin Co., GA regarding a fifa on Lot 136/16 DeKalb County, original Henry Co. If I could find out who originally won that Lot in 1821 Lottery, it may give me the answer as to who his father was. The name in legal was Jefferson Tanner and Elizabeth Tanner (since Emily was his wife's name, Elizabeth could be his mother) Any help on this GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.
