Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre -Irvine CA 1989

Ok, here we go again. We find out from KROQ that Duran are touring again. Denise and I were really in trouble now. Since we promised we wouldn't beg to see Duran again, our Mom was determined that she wasn't going to get us tickets this time. I was so depressed! She kept saying no way until after the tickets for the L.A. show went onsale. Denise and I tried our best to win them, but it was no good. I guess Mom finally felt sorry for us, because finally she said yes for the Irvine show.

It was about an hour drive from our house to Irvine, but Mom was so great that she drove us, and waited in the car until the concert was over. Later, she told us that she was able to hear it all, and thought she heard my screaming for Simon, but I don't think that's possible...

The concert was on, and our seats were somewhat better than the show at the Forum at least, but we saw some empty ones that were near our friends who were at the show too, so we snuck down lower.

The whole concert was really great as usual, they had these great laser lights through parts of the show, but I hardly noticed because I kept my eyes on Simon the whole time. And on the way home, listening to KROQ, we heard them playing lots of Duran by request from people who were getting out from the show.

We didn't get to buy anything this time, because although Mom drove us and got the tickets, she said she wasn't going to spend anything on the show itself...but that was okay because as long as we went, it was WELL worth it. Epecially since it was going to be a LONG wait for the next one!
