Finally, the last weekend before the Duran show...and I drop Denise off at work. Sure enough, they announce on the radio that they have another set to give away, with MNG this time too. I RACE HOME! And I get there with a song to spare. I call before Steve West makes the announcement to call, just because I know people will be calling and I never manage to get through until afterwards. I WON!! I had to call Denise right away. And then my Dad and Mom...at 8 in the morning, so they knew something was up! Finally the day of the show arrives...and Denise and I get ready to go. We give one set of tickets to Elaine, and the other set (these ones we bought with my 2nd copy of POPTRASH) Denise gives to her friend from work. We meet up with Melissa, and then head to the Amphitheater. We wait, and then finally get to go backstage. We stand in a line, and then I look up and see....SIMON...and Nick and Warren too. When it's our turn, I go right to Simon and ask him to sign my tourbook. He signs, but I stay there. He tells me not to step on his tea...and I'm in shock like..HOW COULD I DARE?...but just say "Oh no, I wont..." We get in to take the photo...and of course I am right by SIMON. When he puts his arm around me, I could nearly DIE...but don't. WHEW! Then I ask Nick and Warren to sign my book too...so they do. It's over...so we go to our seats. We completely miss TSAR, but the Duran show is FANTASTIC. If only our seats were'nt so far back! It felt like 87 again...yipes! Afterwards, we wait up front, and I get a setlist from the crew! COOL! But they didn't end up doing LAVA LAMP even though it was listed on the setlist. Then we wait outside the show for the band to leave. We see them in their limovan, and I wave...did they wave back??? Who knows...?? But, after about an hour or two of searching places they might be, Denise and I finally decide to go back home. After all, we had a long trip ahead of us...It wasn't over yet! Hey Simon, I put faces on my signature too!! One of these days I'll send it to you so you can see... PS- I am STILL waiting for 91X to give me a copy of the photo that they took!! I cannot believe that after all that saying that, "oh no you won't need cameras because we are going to take care of everything," and they give us nothing to remember the moments by??? What is up with that??! If any of you would like to help, then email me and let me know! I'm about ready to bombard their website here!!! Its harder now since I've had to move, and I can't just drop on by their station and demand to see that photo! And when I was able to, I even tried calling for it, and the only thing they said was, "Well we've got it upstairs somewhere...," GOOD GRIEF! I'm missing the picture of Simon with his arm around me!!!! AAACKS!! Personally, I'm beginning to think that they screwed it up somehow!! What am I to do???? |
