Having missed the 83-4 tour by a few months, Denise and I decided to try and not miss one ever again. Finally the time came, and our Mom went with us and bought the tickets. Being avid listeners of KROQ, we got to hear an interview Duran did with Dusty Street...and the NEW version of HLTW live. We thought it was amazing of course...like ALL Duran. So, the day of the show, Mom dropped us off and told us to meet her at that same spot later, and off we ran. We found out that our seats SUCKED, off the floor, the second tier section...I was so dissapointed. Then we were treated to Erasure. The only thing I remember about that was that he was wearing what looked like a negligee and stockings and heels at one point at least. At last Duran came on, and we went crazy! I don't remember really what songs they did in the order, but I know they did AMERICAN SCIENCE, which was my favorite off of NOTORIOUS, and I nearly keeled over. When they did HLTW, all of us were singing along with Simon in the newer version, and I think they were a bit shocked to hear that we knew it. Anyway, the night went by WAY too fast! I know at one point Simon was singing on the floor of the stage, and afterwards people said he had a heart attack...good grief! The Bangles came on at the end of the show, and I know that their drummer Debbie kissed Simon's cheek 2 times!! I was so jealous ;) After the show, we waited in the spot our Mom told us to, and waited long enough for the limos to leave. I touched one of them and nearly fell over in hysterics because I wasn't old enough to drive and see where they were going. Finally, Mom came, and drove us back home. I bought a shirt, and Denise the program. I was voiceless and poor Denise, who was subjected to my screaming all night, could hardly hear. But we were happy above all else...and couldn't wait for the next one....
