Cox Arena - Jingle Ball - San Diego CA 1999

By incredible luck, and a few friends, we had heard that Duran might do a show in SD for Christmas. So we bought the tickets, and sure enough they were announced. Then, they were having a lottery drawing to try and win the chance to try and get seats in rows 2-10. They drew your number and you could buy up to 4 seats! So of course, having seats off the floor, we decided to go for it. We went early on December 2, and finally they started.

THEY DREW MY TICKET!!! I felt so lucky! We got row 3! In the middle section too...ahhh! Two went to Elaine and Sarah, and the others were for Denise and I. They gave us passes along with our tickets, since I guess you have to had them to even get down to that section! COOL!! What wasn't cool was the fact that they were doing a sticker stop, and one of the envelopes they gave out had a backstage pass in it. Denise and I went of course, and with horrible luck, we missed it by about 5 cars in front of us! I was SO dissapointed!!

Oh well...onto the show. We had picked up Trixxie from the airport, and then waited around at the airport trying to catch Duran. Having no luck, we decided to head home...until we heard that Duran were already rehearsing! We went straight to the arena, but they wouldn't let us come inside until later. Oh well.

We were supposed to meet up with Elaine, Sarah, and Trixxi at a hotel downtown, but couldn't pull ourselves away from the fact that Duran MIGHT be in the vicinity.

The show started finally, and Denise and I sat through the first few acts. Elaine and Sarah finally made their way in, and then Duran came on. They were amazing...and I think Simon saw that I had on his HE shirt! COOL! They weren't on for very long which was really awful, but it was really worth it seeing Duran again.

After they went offstage, we all left. Denise and I hung around at the back of the arena, and then went out to the car just in case they came out. When we asked the security guard, he said they had already left. We left then too, and waited around at a hotel for a while, just in case. We didn't go to the club with Elaine and Sarah, because Denise was getting sick, and I was so dissapointed that they were gone again, that we just went home. I couldn't believe I had missed Simon again...and it was really hard not leaving right away to go to Arizona for their show there. Again, I had to wait for another chance to try and meet Simon...
