Harmony Masonic Lodge No.22 A.F.M. News Letter for month of March, 2005

From the Wor. Master

Brethren;

My occupation as a Fireman for the Beaufort Fire Department, I was selected to attend the National Fireman’s Academy In Maryland. This kept me from attending our regular communication in Feb.

I thank you brethren for you support, and a special thanks to Bro. Henry Chambers, Senior Warden for filling in my station as Wor. Master on this date.
  I understand that there was a very good attendance, and was a very special event for a few of our members.

M/Wor. Brother Pinkston had the pleasure of presenting a 50 year Pin and Certificates to three of Harmony Lodge 22 members, Henry C. Chambers, James C. Adams, and Dan H. Thompson, all having been raised to the degree of a Master Mason in 1954. Bro. Pinkston, in that he was presenting a 50 year pin to Bro. Chambers on the night that he was presiding as Wor/Mast of his Lodge for the first time. Bro. Chambers had been an office in the 50s after being raised, but had never served as a Warden or Master. He was elected Senior Warden this past Dec. after showing an interest to become active again.
I am proud of the Officers that were elected appointed to serve the Lodge this year. From the attendance at the last two meetings, I feel that Harmony Lodge will see a change over the coming years.
As suggested, a list of our local area members with their phone numbers (as Files) are included with this new letter. Please use to call a brother, invite him to attend Lodge with you. If he is unable to attend, let him know that the members are there, if he is in need of assistance.

Fraternally;

Scott W. Robinson, W/M

Thoughts From The Senior Warden

Dear Brethren,

work I have seen renewed enthusiasm and better attendance at our regular meetings and our recent degree work.
I urge your attendance and ask that you call a brother and bring him to the next meeting.
Items that will need more support and enthusiasm are in no particular order.

1.      Create awareness of our Lodge and its activities in the community.

2.      Help to choose and annual fund raising project that will be a Harmony #22 annual project.

3.      Consider a new sign for the Lodge at the corner of Ribaut Road and Depot Road.

4.      Prepare monthly new releases to local media, creating awareness of our members’ activities in our community.  You must let us know when you are promoted or become an officer in your church, Synagogue or Masonic organization.

5.      Increase attendance by instituting a “Bring a Brother to Lodge” program.  Through this program, each of us becomes a committee of one.  Pledge to double and triple our attendance at regular meetings and degree work.

6.      Visit neighboring lodges and invite them to join us.

7.      Institute a degree team to help ourselves and other lodges more enjoy the work.

8.      Most importantly. Let everyone know you are a master mason.  There are numbers of men in our community that don’t know what we do, but knowing you are a master mason will want to affiliate because of your example of the tenets of Masonry in your daily life.  None of us will ever know when we have influenced the life of another by our personal example.  We don’t need to be president of civic clubs, political leaders or leader in Masonic organizations to influence others.  I believe one upright man and mason, if known, can change the direction of our community.

As I have visited our neighboring lodges and learned again after 50 years what I had forgotten of the beauty and value of our work, I am firmly convinced we can triple our attendance and perpetuate masonry in our community by simple personal influences and attract new members.

I challenge you to help the officers with this effort. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Fraternally,

Henry C. Chambers, S/W

From The Junior Warden

Brethren:

  We are off to a great start this year! Our February regular communication was well attended, and we enjoyed a fantastic meal of shrimp gumbo served up by brothers Sonny Gay, Chuck Weickhardt, and Craig Dopson. A special thanks goes out to Brother Dobson for a shrimp gumbo to die for!! This is two months in a row that we have had great food. In January Brother Henry Chambers arranged for us to enjoy some caterer Steve Brown s culinary delights. At this rate we are on the way to being the best-fed lodge in the District. It would be great for those who have not come to Lodge recently to come and enjoy some brotherhood, fellowship, and a great meal with the Craft.

Regular communications are on the 2nd Thursday of the month, degree work is on the 4th Thursday, dinner is around 7:00 pm, and the gavel drops at 7:30. I look forward to seeing each of you in the South, and may God bless each of you, and your families in your daily life and work.

Fraternally,

Mark Henderson J/Warden
