Result :                  7 -  Doom, but better.

Graphics:           5 - Looking old, slightly updated over Doom 1.
FMV :             N/A
Sound :              8 - Still good, that chaingun concerto rocks.
Music :               7 - Different for each level.
A.I. :                 5 - Basic.
Lifespan :          8 - They start tough, and get worse.
Gameplay :        8 - Still a great 1st person shooter.
Adrenaline :      8 - Carnage!

I bought Final Doom second-hand for sentimental reasons, and was pleasantly surprised at how good it still is.  It's own advertising proclaims that has some of the hardest levels designed, yet even on Ultra-Violence (there is no Nightmare difficulty) it didn't always seem particularly taxing.  It may be because I am more skilled than I thought, but you only meet one Cyberdemon, and even Barons are rare.  It's just I remember playing Doom 2 X-treme Gold (highly recommended PC wad), and they have some mind-boggling volumes of firepower lashing between you and them.

If you have never heard of Doom, it is the original bloodfest 1st person shoot-em-up (sure Wolf 3D was early, but it didn't compare).  It has a simple storyline, something about being a space marine, and stopping alien demons from invading Earth.   This just means that you go from the start to the finish, in a non-linear "maze", killing anything that moves.   It made this genre great, and was banned in the US.  It looks positively tame, gore-wise, now days.  Quake 2 should be released soon on the Playstation, and that will probably supplant every Doom feature with better ones.

Highly recommended for a quick dose of violence.
