Result : 8 - Prettier, smoother, 3D Tekken 2.
Tekken 3 is basically Tekken 2 with a face lift. It is now in a 3D landscape, and the visuals are far superior. It has little other innovations, I suppose they thought they had a winning formula, so don't change it. It plays very much the same as T2, and most of the characters (and their moves) are the same too. I do like the wood-guy, he changes fighting styles each round, and the mini-dinosaur is cute, I still have some other bosses to unlock, so will keep you posted. The fighters themselves look amazing, they flow from move to move very smoothly, and react to lighting sources properly. Little in the way of improved sound, I guess it is better, but not by much. The backgrounds look better too, but some of the square "arena" type ones don't rotate well where the floor meets the walls. Overall? looks and sounds wonderful, if you have got Tekken 2 there is much different, but if you have never tried the Tekken experience, try this one first. I have to play it more to fully check out whether the game play is much better, but it doesn't seem to different at the moment. From unwrapping the box, I managed to finish it first time I played, with Yoshimitsu (my favourite, and he really looks mean now!), so that should tell you how similar it is. Fan's will love finding out those small changes I'm sure. Note: Bushido Blade is more realistic for combat, but T3 just slips in with an overall easier playibility factor. I need BB2, and soon.
