Harmony Masonic Lodge No.22 A.F.M. News Letter for month of May, 2005

From the Wor. Master

Greetings Brethren:

I am please to say that once again we had a good turnout for our Regular communication.

The brethren elect to confer the Third Degree on May 19th on two candidates.

Don’t forget that your Grand Lodge is meeting in Mt. Pleasant on April 28th and 29th, and you are all invited to attend.

I would like to thank our Junior Warden Mark Henderson for his efforts in organizing our Blood Drive. Harmony Lodge was recognized by the Low Country Blood Alliance for the second highest in donation of Fraternal Organizations, and received a nice plaque for our efforts.

At our may regular communication, Bro. Henry Chamber wil be presenting a slide show of his trip to England. Be sure to mark you calendar, as I’m sure you will not want to miss in. .

Fraternally Yours,

Scott W. Robinson, W/M

From The Junior Warden

Brethren:

We have lots of work being done, with more to come, and attendance remains steady at our Regular Communications. If you have not been to watch, or participate in degree work, please come. If you have not made it to a Regular Communication, put it on your calendar, and come sit in Lodge and enjoy some fellowship. We have one of the busiest Lodges in the District, and we’d love to see you in the South. Come on, and bring another Brother with you. Degree work and the gavel drops at 7:30. I look forward to seeing each of you in the South,. And may God bless each of you, and your families in your daily life and work.

Fraternally,

Mark Henderson J/Warden

From the Senior Warden

Brethern:

I returned from England on April 6th after a wonderful trip and visitation to many Masonic sites of historical interest. I will present in Lodge sometime in May.

As you may recall, the purpose of my visit to England was attend the 200th anniversary of Lodge Harmony 156 in Plymouth England. I call to your attention the Harmony Lodge 22 Beaufort is going to celebrate itws2560th anniversary on September 14th, 15th and 16th, 2006. I ask each of you now, 18 months in advance, mark your schedules for this historic event. We have an illustrious history that has molded the shape of Beaufort County as it exists today. Our members have been active in every role in Beaufort’s history, and I have asked Dr. Larry Rowland, Professor of History University of South Carolina Beaufort, to assist us in reprinting our lodge history for the 250th anniversary 22 and its importance in our community. He has informed me today that our lodge is the oldest chartered institution in Beaufort County.

On April 20th, the committee appointed by Worshipful Master, Scott Robinson, met in my office. Committee members consist of Most Worshipful Past Grand Master, Robert, V. Pinkston, Past Junior Grand Deacon, Wor. Bro. Lawrence Laughlin and myself, Henry Chambers, Senior Warden. We made preliminary plans for the event. We intend to extend initiations to Grand Lodges and to each lodge in our jurisdiction and our neighboring lodges in the State of South Carolina and those Harmony Lodges abroad tat are recognized by the Grand Lodge of South Carolina.

Our tentative program will cover three days: the 14th, 15th and 16th of September, 2006. At this time, we will be host to many guests and dignitaries. Our schedule is to provide them with a continual entertainment, receptions, tours of our community, a Masonic church service, a visitation to the Marine Corp installation at Paris Island, breakfast, lodge meeting and banquet, and a third degree to be put on by the officers of Solomon Lodge 1 in Savannah, Georgia.

We will have a headquarters hospitality suite that will be manned by members of Harmony Lodge 22 for the three days so that we can accommodate and help with travel schedules for those guests that will be visiting is.

I view this as a special opportunity to showcase ancient freemasonry in our community and area. These three days can have great importance in the future of Harmony Lodge 22.

There will be a number of committees: transportation, food, social, banquet, breakfast, etc. Honors will be presented at our lodge meeting before the banquet by the Grand Master and other dignitaries.

I ask each of you to give careful consideration as to where you may fit in the committee structure to make this one of the most momentous event in Harmony History. Please call Bobby Pinkston, Lawrence Laughlin or me and volunteer your services so that we might be able to set up the committees and have ample time to plan for this great event. Mark your calendars so that you will be available.

Beginning in January 2006, we plan to have a news article (or several) in our local news media every month until September, stating the historic role Harmony Lodge 22 has played in the Beaufort Community in its 250 years of existence. Any information of events over the last 250 years that you think should be included, please put in the hands of Lawrence Laughlin, Bobby Pinkston or me, and we will see that they are included in the news articles. If a grandfather, great grandfather or some relative was a Master Mason, let us know so that we can recall your present membership and his past membership and commemorate that in our programs.

Things are going to be very exciting for the next 18 months.

Fraternally,

Henry C. Chambers, Senior Warden
