Dear Ngarto
I've been writing this letter here at Jollibee--a Filipino
multinational food chain and enduring the noise because everywhere around the area I am in
there's brown-out. I've been screaming mad deep inside.
So how are you? have you received my letter? You know, I'
ve been waiting for some news about the comrade who have been arrested. What now? Hoe are
they?
And how's your studies? How's your writing?
For me here, my political work is getting enjoyable for me.
I am currently heading the education and consolidation aspect of its work. Though life is
getting harder every day. Starting to tomorrow, we would be leaving our current
headquarters because of lack of finance. I would still be seeking for comrades' house to
accommodate me since I am living in the H.Q.
And poverty is biting every day. It affect me and other
comrade all the more especially that now me do not have fixed or clear resources where me
could get money for our operations and subsistence.
I am also developing sickness because of the hard situation
here. I cannot really stand up the excessive pollution here in Manila. I get sick all the
time. I think I have deficiencies. And I am considering going to the hospital that is
after I find clear resources to subsidize my hospitalization. One more thing, our very
tiring political work and the hunger we are experiencing here could equal to the
repression you're experiencing w/ Suharto there. If in Indonesia, you activities are
experiencing direct physical violence, in the Philippines, we are experiencing sama other
kinds of structural violence inflicted by the state that is poverty. It's really
sickening. Anyway, I really do hope it won't tear my commitment.
Ngarto, I have to end now.l Sorry, but last night, we
didn't get any single hour of sleep because of an important meeting. And the whole day to
day. I gave a lecture at school. Please understand.
Bye for now, please give my regards to everybody. Please
give also the "Commitment" to other school publications there. Do write back.
Norchi
