Day 10 - Chora, Naxos

Did a little shopping, then back to the room and down to the beach. This may not be a nude beach, but it sure is Topless!! I'd say 75% of the women just let it all hang out! ....no, I'm still covered.
Talked for a while with the couple downstairs. Nick and Mrs Nick. They're from Athens, but lived 30 years in Illinois. They gave us all kinds of tips on which market to go to, which bakery, etc. Bought a few groceries and then walked uptown. Dad showed me this cheese store that had more cheese than you could imagine in one store! Even down in the basement. Cheese stacked, cheese on the floor..cheese everywhere.
A light supper - fish soup for Dad, Greek Salad for me - then home. This morning during our shopping excursion we went to the Old Market. This place is Awesome. But more later. I want Dad to share his story.
When I had been in Naxos in 1992 I went into the "Old Market". It is a labrynith of narrow streets winding around for block after block. In there I came across a bakery and took a picture of the baker and his wife and had her take one of the baker and me. We went into the shop this morning and he wasn't there, but I showed my picture to the new guy and he said that it was his Dad who had died in 1994. He called is Mama from a garden and showed her the picture and then called a lady over to interpret. She said that for the funeral they had a portrait painted of the Dad and used the picture I had taken. The portrait is now hanging in the bakery.
