Day 29 - Chora, NaxosTuesday, June 10, 1997Our last day on the Greek Islands! So hard to believe! Have we really been here a month? It's SO relaxing! It's windy again today, so I beached for a while, but the blowing sand is quite bothersome. Came home and went up to the rooftop instead. Dad lazed and read his book. We visited with Anna and an English lady (Roseanne) for quite a while. She had been to Milos (the island we decided Not to go to) and described it as just spectacular! She had lots of pictures of swimming off the side of this boat into these rock caves. Looked pretty cool. She also had pictures of the grottos (caves) on the island where the Catacombs are. I almost wish we'd have gone, but Naxos is still pretty nice. Maybe next time. Then we wandered down to the harbour. As it turns out Nick and Anna's place in Athens had Not actually been broken into. They tried to get in, but couldn't get past their locked door. Although it was smashed up quite a bit. Other people in their apartment building had lost all kinds of things to the thieves, but Nick and Anna didn't. So that was good news. Had a wonderful dinner at Popi's (grilled 'lamp' and grilled 'chickenonspit') And a bottle (bougalli) of red wine. More complimentary liquers from Mama Popi. Just wanted to sit and look out at the dancing boats in the quay all night long. Dad bought another set of beads, and the guy gave him a lesson this time. Dad had me in stitches laughing all the way home twirling and flipping them around like a Charelston dancer. A nice way to leave the islands. With flushed cheeks and happy grins.
