Lee Marsh Recovery Page

Abused Child

A child so small, so vulnerable,
A child, so scared, alone.
How does she cope with horrors?
How does she cope with fears?

She feels the fear rising
She closes off her mind
She drifts away to another place
She's in another time.

She is not she; she's another
Whose life is good and fine
Her parents truly love her
And on them all sun shines.

She learns to live her life
As two separate inner selves,
The one lives with the beauty,
The other, with the fear.

A child, so small, so vulnerable,
A child - Who will protect?
It's up to us to speak out now
To stop this violent mess.
