   Eulogy 1

What can we say about Eli John Hardiman, known as John to some, Jack to others, husband, brother, father and friend. In spite of a difficult childhood, he learned to fight life head on as I'm sure many of us have witnessed.

He learned really young to work with his hands. And for a man who was given so little to prepare himself for life, he was able to learn a lot about building and fixing things.

Sadly John had a harder time learning about people. In spite of his difficulties in getting along with people, he was not alone. We are the living proof of his existence - beloved wife, along with children, family and friends.

As far back as I can remember he loved the water. I am sure that Lake Scugog brought back his earliest memories of his mother and family, and of the fishing boats and water of his childhood. I think it is only natural that his love of the ocean should come back to him and he could reconnect with his love when he was on his boat.

There were people who cared about him, and they are here. Gregory, I know that over the years you have developed some affection for him. Isabel, it seems to me that you cared deeply for him and for that I thank you. I hope that you will remember the good times with him with fondness. To all of Isabel's family, my sincerest thanks for your attention to him and to Gregory and myself at this time. It is very much appreciated.

John, May you rest in peace and may God be fair in his judgement of you.

John is free AT LAST
