  A Mother's Indifference

A son calls out to you in grief and sadness
Over the death of his father
And your indifference resonates through him.

"So." you say. No loss to you, oblivious to the ache
he has for a father he barely knew
And your indifference resonates through him.

You speak of other things. Your problems.
And ignore his grief and loss, deaf to his words.
And your indifference resonates through him.
