  Healing Words

Like balm on an open wound
Peeled back and cleansed
Washed and disinfected
Wrapped and bandaged
And allowed to heal at last

From the battlefields of home
forced towards fear
and dark pathways
through infinite years
the youth condemned
will know heartache's tears

Nobody understood my pain
or desire to not forgive
and growing sane
softer truth grew
new love is found.

Sacrificed dreams
blood-stained scenes
desire denied.

My soul awakes
Night shrinks
Love is found

Gas stations
I hate the smell
It brings back memories of a father
Greasy, stained hands from work

The memories are closer
A faded face remains
Something triggers a scar
The love brings healing

Bruised and wounded
Without voice
Something tests my heart

I come alive
To know and find
The needed love.

Crumpled soul
Her screams silent
Haunting words never heard
Locked in lonely thoughts
They wondered why
She was so scared.

The trials I knew
That tests my mind
His arms of love
Did know my heart
And love returned again

How memories echo
Souls hardened
Turning love into power
A mother still cannot love.

Justice sits to move
Probing the ugly scene
The victm's knotted entrails
Man's lack of remorse
will be found

We awake - nerves tingling
For calm and peace tonight
But seeing his changes
Never safe from strife
Patiently we wait

You understand painful dreams about the world
You know the insignificance of a child
Your contemplations reflect fallen humankind
