      Color Purple

As a child I was given a giant stuffed poodle
Who became my friend and confidante
I held him when I cried
and curled up with him at night.

He kept the boogie man away
And let me sleep safe and sound.
A gift I treasured from a friend
Lost in all the moves.

A purple dress - a gift I loved
I felt clean and pure - a child
It's top all smocked, a bow to tie
I felt like a gift myself. So rare.

I surround myself with purple
A healing choice for me
Strength and health bestow me
A calming sense I need.
