  Tears of Rage

Tears of rage held inside

never been expressed
Hidden form the self because
It hurt too much to know
That what you called love
Was just a sham
We all believed one parent cared
And what you did was best.

Tears of rage held inside
never even felt
We needed to know
We weren’t alone
So learned to comfort you
When what we really needed was
To be comforted by you
But you were never there

Tears of rage I held inside
so you would never know
how much it hurt
to be sent so far away from home
and when I returned
to stay at home
to give up my dreams
to satisfy your own

Tears of rage I now express
for many, many years
The sadness gone, the pain is healed
How could you abandon us
Tears of rage, we all can feel
the hurt it hid is huge
Tears of rage to mother dear
From a child who loved you
