  How Could You?

How could you
Use the floor brush to scrub our neck and feet?
Or shove a soap bar in our mouths
Or see our tears and walk away?

How could you
Tape our mouths and tie us to our beds
While you slept in and hour or two
And heard our cries and put a pillow over your head?

How could you
Leave him and take only two
And never come back for the others
When you knew how sick and demented he really was?

How could you
Blame a little girl for abuse by your man
When you knew he’d done it before
To every girl he knew?

How could you
Take a strap and beat us black and blue
And wonder why each one of us
Wants nothing to do with you?
