Harmony Masonic Lodge No.22 A.F.M. News Letter for month of March, 2006

From the Wor. Master

Greetings Brethren:

We are nearing the end of March, only six months to go in preparing for our 250th anniversary. Just one of the committee chairmen that were appointed during out February 9th meeting has begun to work, and none have communicated with me as to time frames necessary to make things happen.

At the last communication, I relieved the chairmen of the invitations committee and have personally taken over these responsibilities. It is my assumption that all chairmen accepted their responsibilities since I have not heard differently from any of you.
Things are really moving along, and I am very pleased with the response we are receiving from past Master and others who have selflessly given their time to coach our new brothers and fill the important vacant chairs at both practice and degree work. I am also pleased to see Brothers coming to our Monday practices. It is heart-warming to find the number of Brothers who want to participate in the work of the Lodge. Together we will make Harmony 22 the pride of Masonry in South Carolina.
Published in this bulletin are the names of each committee chairman together with the members of committees. Please, if you cannot accept the responsibility, call me. Each committee and its work is so very important to the success 0f the 250th Celebration.
Since January 1st, we have conferred one (1) Master Mason’s Degree, five (5) five (5) Entered Apprentice Degrees, one (1) Fellowcraft Degree and three (3) affiliations. We have two (2) candidates for Entered Apprentice on the 23rd of March and 2 for Fellowcraft Degree on March 30th. Come join us at Lodge to support these new brethren.
Brother Junior Warden Chuck Weickhardt and his stewards have done an outstanding job with our meals. Brother Chuck has given tirelessly to the efforts of making our meals attractive and by coaching our new brothers.
I urge you to join us at lodge and help with the work, and support our degree team with your presence. We practice every Monday night at 6:00 and invite you to join us either as a refresher or to actually train to participate in the work. We need you.
We have implemented reminder cards for our meetings. They will be mailed in order to reach each member on our active rolls on the Wednesday preceding the meeting. If you don’t get yours, call us as there are some errors in our address files. We have set both regular and special meetings on Thursdays.

MASONRY DESERVES YOUR SUPPORT

Henery C. Chambers,

Worshipful Master

From the Senior Warden

Dear Brethern,

Greetings from the West! We are off to a great start this year with our first Regular Communication under our belt and degree work scheduled all three degrees. Worshipful Brother Henry Chambers has said that he would be running information in the Beaufort Gazette all year long in honor of the 250th anniversary of our Lodge, and he started with a picture of this year’s officers. Look for additional historic information in future articles. This will indeed be a great year for Masonry in Beaufort, and I ask you to consider being an active part of the celebration.
I keep saying it, but coming to watch, or assist with degree work is a fantastic way to come back to Lodge and get back into the swing of things. If you are receiving this newsletter you probably have a current dues card, and somebody will recognize you and vouch for you. Don’t let thoughts of “I haven’t been in Lodge for so long I have forgotten what to do, and I’ll look bad” keep you from coming. We’re ALL learning ALL the time, and your brothers are there to help you. So dust off those cobwebs if you feel a little rusty, come to lodge, and you’ll get back into the swing of things in no time. We won’t put you to work unless you say you want to get involved. I just want to see you in Lodge, especially during degrees, even if you just want to come watch.
The food was outstanding last year (Who doesn’t like to have some of Steve Brown’s fixing’s?), and Worship Brother Chuck is off to a great start this year. Come and enjoy a good meal, stay for the fellowship, and come to Lodge.
On a slightly somber note, if you want Masonic rites when you pass from this transitory life, please let your family know, and put it in your will. We have had brothers who have left us to be with the Lord, and because they did not indicate that they wanted Masonic rites, they did not receive them. Other issues come up when family members have misguided views about Masonry, and after you are gone you can’t help them understand. I encourage you to talk to your family about Masonry, let them know that you are a Mason, help educate them to clear up any misunderstandings they might have, and if it is important to you, let them know your desires regarding Masonic rites.
I would really like to see as many of you as possible sitting in the South sometime in 2006. If you come to a regular communication or degree work, bring another Brother with you to share in the experience. If you need assistance, or just don’t want to come alone, please let me, or another brother know, and we’ll make the necessary arrangements to pick you up.
Remember, our regular communications are on the 2nd Thursday of the month, and degree work is planned for the 4th Thursday. Dinner for both occasions is around 7:00 pm, and the gavel drops at 7:30. I look forward to seeing each of you in the South, and may God bless each of you, and your families in your daily life and work.

Fraternally,

Mark Henderson, Senior Warden
