P.A.L.S. Meeting

Present:  Heidi, Lisa, Joan, Jan and Mariana

 

Fall was in the air this October evening, and a nail biting Badger game conclusion started us out.  It was a happy ending, too bad the rest of the season had a sad ending.

 

Jan began our Halloween meeting with a most unusual sample, a green apple hard cider variety.  It was pleasantly different though not at all like a beer.  In addition to 2 tasty Octoberfests, we sampled an Orange blossom cream ale and a hearty Scottish porter.  All the autumnal colors were well represented at this meeting. The tasty beer was accompanied (as usual) by discussions of our highlife and lowlife events.  Our monthly dose of medicinal laughter was also fulfilled and we got the mismatched drapes and carpet problem solved. 

 

Our next meeting will be at Joan’s new pad.  We also discussed the Round Robin possible date as December 18^th.  Check out your calendars.

 

For those of you who recall the smoked beer at my house:

     “Rauchbier (German for “smoke beer”) is a dark lager with an identifiably roasted or smoked quality.  Malts dried over an open fire of moist beechwood logs give the beer its distinctive character.”

 

For those of you who recall the Xingu Black Beer at my house (thick, syrupy and anise flavor):

     “Named for an Amazon River tributary, Xingu was first exported in 1988 by Amazon, Inc., which was founded by five women whose goal was to revive this indigenous black brew that dates to the 1500’s.  Today Xingu is the fourth-bestselling beer in South America.”
