P.A.L.S MEETING
OCTOBER 14,2000
A pleasant evening was on tap for this October gathering of beer club, marking our 3rd anniversary. Mild temperatures and no bugs provided an opportunity to meet outdoors and an autumnal fire kept us warm as the night air chilled. Rather than Octoberfest, the meeting was more like a poker hand 2 pair; a pair of clubs (members), and a pair of hearts (sister Joan and cousin Jill). We did, however, have an OCTOBERFEST, beer that is. It was our second taste, our first being RED STRIPE, a brew that Rhonda had suggested since it is Jamaican. We raised our glasses to toast our friend whod had a helluva year. The 3rd sample was the St. Pauli Girl (dark) and it was served by the St. Pauli Girl (AKA me in a costume hey, its Halloween)! As the night grew dark, so did the beer, and our last taste was Cherryland Brewerys RAIL PORTER - quite dark and flavorful (I hope we rated it I dont remember). Our guests were very gracious and caught on quickly to the rating system. Sister Joan is moving soon to New Hampshire and a night with beer club surely has provided her with a fond Wisconsin memory. Cousin Jill hurried home from a family gathering to join us and even brought an awesome artichoke dip, hot from the oven. Jill thought the whole concept of being close enough to walk provided her with an opportunity to drink at will! Thanks to our guests for joining us!
