P.A.L.S. Meeting
4-27-03
Present: Jan, Heidi, Denise, Lisa, Mariana
As always, it was great to be together, sample beers, and enjoy conversation and laughter with friends. Jans samples included a new Lakefront and an interesting herbal ale. The more we get to know about beer, the more there is to learn. Lisa brought some samples of the beer we made so we could begin to think about naming it. There was a very hoppy taste to the Nestle porter and a still developing nutty flavor to the Brown Ale. The Boys beer (nicknamed "He-brew") was complex with a great deal of body. We will continue to condition the beer in the bottles until another opportunity presents itself for tasting. The food was interesting as well this particular evening. Denise brought a Mexican lasagna which was not lacking in flavor and pizzazz. The conversation was not lacking in pizzazz either. I suppose it is somewhat stereotypical but we did spend a little time talking about shopping, and one of our favorite places is Kohls. Unbeknownst to me, the air in there has a cathartic effect on some people!! What is it about that? Anyways, we finished the evening planning for the upcoming field trip month. It was decided that we would attend the South Milwaukee Community Centers "Beers Around the World".
Heidi even went on get us a gig pouring the beers. It turned out to be a blast, even though the beer fest was short on food and the sampling procedure needed tweaking. It was quite amusing and a hell of a lot of fun being on the "other" side of the table (all of us except Lisa, who had to be tasting the whole night). We look forward to doing it again next year.
Next meeting June 27th, 7:30pm
