P.A.L.S. MEETING

4-19-02

Present: Denise, Jan, Lisa, Heidi, Mariana, and guest, Andrea.

We sure missed Joan, and wished her a quick recovery as we learned about her car accident. Thankfully injuries were not life threatening but injuries take time to heal as we get older… (sorry Joan, I had to throw that in), especially jarring injuries.

We were delighted to have Andrea as our guest! She fit in quite naturally. She even showed significant maturity when rating with the rest of us. We hope she can join us again in the future! (Hope she had fun!)

Heidi started off the meeting by telling us she forgot to buy EXTRA beers, for the before and after. We were stunned! Luckily she bought extra of the samples so she didn’t even come close to running out. Which brings up a point of business. Heidi made a motion that we change the guidelines (or "by-laws") of club to read, "FOUR bottles of four different kinds" instead of "THREE bottles of four different kinds" since we have an additional member and frequently have guests. There was very little discussion necessary and Denise seconded the motion (or maybe it was Jan), all were in favor. So it is written, so it is done.

It was a flavorful evening, ranging from a new Leinie’s light, to fruity brown ale, to a bittersweet porter. As always, the conversation and camaraderie was most beneficial and enjoyable.

We did receive a rinngy dinngy during the meeting from Rick, member of Chess club. Since they have rights to a brewmaster, they have offered a joint meeting between clubs to assist us in our first venture into making beer. That’s an offer we can’t refuse! So our next meeting will be the first meeting of CH-EER club. Time will only tell if we go on to have a second meeting. We will be making beer, and probably drinking beer, but we won’t be playing chess.

We talked briefly amongst ourselves about what kind of beer we should make…Daylight savings beer (not sure where that came from), or "pup" brown ale (that’s the one we had from Smuttynose – no wait, that was OLD BROWN DOG ALE). We finally decided it would be good to make a nut brown ale. The brewmaster will give us some recipes to select from.

Therefore it is with great anticipation that I announce to you the next meeting-
Date – May 17th, Friday
*Time – 6:30pm (please be prompt, there is much to do)

HOST - LISA

Please note – Bring snacks as usual. Lisa will let us know how much the supplies for the beer we make are and we will divide. Lisa will have a special sample, but we will NOT be rating as we will be otherwise occupied. Feel free to bring an old favorite beer, or something new you’ve tried, or want to try.

          PLUS                    PLUS                     EQUALS

Respectfully submitted,
Mariana
