Second day in Japan

Page 1

On our second day in Japan we stayed near home. Went to the bank to get some yen (105 to the $) and did a little shopping etc.

Oto-san (father) is drying his day's gathering of acorns. (No, he is not a squirrel)

He is very poular with the children in the neighborhood. He makes acorn tops and gives them to the children.

Each tray holds 300 acorns.

The family's Maneki neko (good luck cat).

We brought some colorful rocks we collected from some of our past US travels (desert, coast, etc.) We used these to make a decorative indoor fountain.

We went to the department store and found this nice size bowl to use for the fountain. The final assembly looks pretty good, and it sounds nice too.
