In Akihabara we looked for a new green obi for Yoshiko (to wear with her green kimono she has at home). We found a nice one that she liked but it was 580,000 yen (check it out Eckley). I told her to think about it before buying it. Doesn't seem the art gallery receptions bring in enough sales yet to warrant that cost. Other obis were priced around 50,000 to 300,000 yen. The only thing we bought were a pair of tabi (special socks for kimono wear) at 1000 yen. We still have a few weeks to go to find a green obi.
In the evening we attended a party with the Kamen-No-Kai, a group of Tokyo artists, poets, playwrites, authors, etc. The food and company was great, but too much cigarette smoke for us.
There is a 200 year old senbei shop in Asakusa. This is one of the senbei cooks. |
Senbei are rice crackers that are roasted over a hot charcoal fire. |
Pictures frome the Kamen-No-Kai party. |
We had delicious oden (homecooked vegetables) |
One of the artists had painted the mural on the wall some years ago. |
There was plenty of beer, sake, tea and soft drinks for everyone. |
