Sixth day in Japan

Tokyo Sidewalks

This morning on our walk arond the park I took a few pictures

Here are three of the walkers again. But what's this patterned stripe down the sidewalk?

Here is a close-up view of it. It is a textured pattern used by blind people to navigate around the city. They are on sidewalks everywhere in the Tokyo area.

At intersections and turns the pattern changes. These patterns can be felt by the feet.

Here is the Kondo's condominium building where we are staying (third floor). It is a 7 story building.

We visited a kimono shop in Kawagoe, and old town from the Edo period (1600-1900). The obi in the window is only 335,000 yen ($3350). The kimono itself is cheaper at 235,000 yen.

Here is a bit cheaper obi priced at 230,000 yen. Yoshiko is still looking for an obi for her green kimono.
