Fourth day in Japan

Steve and Yoshiko went to the Taiko concert

The world famous Za Ondekoza Taiko Group was performing at the theater nearby (1 minutes walk from home). We went to the performance and it was great. While it was not permitted to take photographs during the performance I did manage to get a few after the show.

The woman in the picture is the leader of the group.

This is the big drum (taiko)

Many women liked the sparse dress the men wore. There was not even one gram of fat on any of the performers.

At the end of the performance the players came out front. The woman with the flute is the group's leader. She is also an excellent taiko player.

Other intruments used besides the various kinds of taiko include samisen, koto, shakuhatsi, and various percussion instruments. I likes the shakuhatsi (flute) best.
