Shinjuku Girls

Now don't laugh. On these pages are shown the latest in Japanese fashion. Believe it if you will. I call these "Shinjuku Girls." They like to hang out in the Shinjuku area.

This is the latest in high-fashion foot wear. (and I mean HIGH)

The soles on thes boots/shoes are quite heavy (so as to prevent the wearer from being blown over easily)

Here is a typical Japanese young lady wearing the footwear. Note that the footwear must also be accompanied by a very (and I mean very) short skirt. The idea seems to be to get the hem line as high off the ground as possible.

When the girls walk up the stairs in the train stations they must either hold their large purse behind them or grip and pull the skirt tightly against the back of their legs.

While I was not able to get a good picture on the stairways, please believe me in that it is rather humorous to see.

Most girls find it a bit difficult to maneuver quickly in these shoes. Some soles are as much as eight inches thick.
