Raymond John Telford proposed to me this evening when he came up to see me. I'd been half expecting it, from all the clues he's been giving lately, but I was still a bit surprised. Of course I said YES!
We haven't told our parents yet...they might think we're rushing things. Think we'll announce it officially in July.

Just for fun today we went looking at houses. Figured out we could have up to 84 guests coming to the wedding. Picked the date: 7th October. We wanted the wedding in Spring, and after the Olympics, and we thought the 7th could be nice (and easy to remember) seeing as we first met on the 7th. Going to have to save a fair bit of money if we want a wedding and a house.

We told our parents this weekend. I think both lots were surprised as we both got the talk afterwards by our respective parents about  "You are doing this because you love....and not because you just want to get married".  Of course it's because we love each other! I can't think of anyone who would make me happier than Raymond does!!!

Spent this Easter weekend in Canberra with Raymond at the Diplomat Boutique Hotel. Had a great time. I think I've corrupted Ray into drinking white wine. We found a really nice one by Brown Brothers called Croucher and Riesling, and managed to get well and truly slished on both nights spend there.
We also had a spa. FANTASTIC! Must have one of those on the honeymoon!!! What a wonderful weekend away. We had beautiful sunny weather, while back in Sydney it rained.
We told Raymond's sister, Carolyn, about the engagement today, just before they were to leave for holidays in the USA.

Well I found my dream dress today. I had pored over the bridal mags looking for what I liked the look of and what I thought would suit me. Have been looking for a few years for styles and I finally decided that halter necks might be the style to go for. I found an ad for Cairns in Sydney and thought I'd go with Lavinia to try it on. We set off on the train, catching a train from Richmond.
Boy were we in for a rude shock!!! The shop lady was so
rude and unhelpful. I described this dress to her that they had advertised (I wasn't lugging those heave bridal mags around Sydney all day), and she brought out this dress which wasn't it all. I decided to try it on anyway, as it was halter-neck. It was too small to do up at the back so you couldn't see it well (and I'm only a size 12).  And the sales lady rushed me through it, even to the point where she told another assistant that we would only be 5 minutes, and I had just got the dress on. The shop had signs up saying if you were only trying dresses on to take the design back to a dress maker they would charge you $25. I made a point of getting them to write the dress down for me. I didn't notice at the  but Lavinia said the lady also looked at my hand to see if I had an engagement ring. We haven't found one yet! We tried upstairs in bridesmaids section, but got the same non-service. I left almost in tears...How could they be so rude to a potential customer?
So on the train we got, but Lavinia convinced me to get off at Parramatta and look around, calm down and have some lunch. I'm so glad she did!!!
We wandered around Westfield and found several things for the wedding. Green dress for the bridesmaids that suited Lavinia really well, and the one and only engagement ring that I've liked in our searches so far. I just had to try it on, and would you believe it was exactly the right size and so beautiful. Pity that it costs more than I think Ray can afford. During lunch we rang Ray and told him about the ring. Organised to meet him when he finished work so I could show it to him.
