Convinced mum and dad to come along to Marilyn's Flowers today. I was very impressed by her little studio out the back of her house. Also means her prices are a little bit cheaper than the shops. $50 cheaper! We sat around a table, and browsed through her various books and folders, deciding on shapes and colours. I told her right away that I want roses included, and dad told her the flowers I'm allergic to. She was very understanding about that, and even included that on the quote that my bouquet is to have low fragrance flowers. She is also the lady who does the reception flowers in our package, and we get a choice in what we want done with that. I think I will go with this place! |

ENAGAGEMENT PARTY: Raymond and I picked up the hire chairs this morning. The sky was overcast and we were afraid it might rain on the party. His parents arrived for lunch and then all last minute cooking was done. The guests started to arrive from around 2pm, and dad had fun directing them where to park. My aunty Ricky (who didn't make it there as she was sick) had made us a heart shaped mudcake which we cut in front of everyone (after Glenn got them all inside with the promise of a speech). Dad made a short speech in practise for the wedding, as he is not comfortable with public speaking. I was so proud of him. Ray and I both said a few words, and cut the cake up. We opened up the numerous presents our guests had brough. We were amazed at how generous they had been, as we hadn't been expecting much, if anything at all. Everyone had left by 6.30pm, and finally Raymond and I sat down to eat some of the leftover food and celebrated ourselves with 2 bottles of our favourite wine! |

We received confirmation of our booking at Richmond Club today, but also had some disappointing news. The Gazebo in Paramatta is already booked out till mid October due to the Olympics in Sydney. I really wanted to stay there! Plus it would have meant a longer ride in the limo afterwards to unwind. Went in to see Sandra about the hotel today and we are still on the waiting list for the Gazebo (if by some miracle someone drops out), but we are definetly booked in at the Hawkesbury Lodge in Windsor. Which means a 3 minute ride from the reception...but maybe the driver will take a scenic route around the area for us to unwind. Also made sure Sandra knew we are arranging our own DJ (so far), which reduced the price by $2 a head. Just have to pin Glenn down and get him to commit. |

Another outing with Lavinia today. We went swimming, and then decided to check out Maquarie Formal Hire in Windsor. Turns out they don't just do suits; they've got bridal jewellery, gifts and cars to hire. Found out they had the style of suits the guys were wanting, and pretty close matches in the vests. Decided we'll take our respective husband-to-be's along there. Next Lavinia showed me the little cake shop she tested out at Micheal's birthday. The old lady in there was so helpful in looking at different style cakes, and has the one set price for each size. Found a cake I like, but I want Raymond to be a part of this decision as well. Will have to take him to see it. |

Early this morning we set off to Windsor to sort out suits and the cake. We met Lavinia and Micheal doing the same in the Formal wear shop. Ray tried on the suit, and looked very smart in it. They took down his details and the names of the groomsmen, and also what we decide on. Now the guys just have to go in next year and get their measurements taken. Then off to the cake shop we went. Showed Ray the picture, and after much discussing we came up with our perfect cake. Put a deposit down, and then went to the Panther's Bridal Expo. |
