Remember to hit reload every day or else the new card may not load!

Not all of the old Card of the Day files are working right now. All of the old files should be running within one month. About 70-85% are working now. Sorry for the delays getting new cards done too. Things are getting back to normal rather well.

In this web page, I hope to present to you strategies, combos, and obscure uses for a new Magic: The Gathering card every single day.

The Card of the Day is...

Farrel's Zealot

Fallen Empires Common
1WW Summon Townsfolk

2/2
"If Farrel's Zealot attacks and is not blocked, you may choose to have it deal 3 damage to a target creature. If you do so, it deals no damage to defending player this turn."

A brief rundown of the card:

I remember the great pleasure of opening a box of Fallen Empires. Carefully examining each card as I opened the first dozen packs...eagerly reading each card, wondering what decks those cards would go into. After 20 packs, I'd see a different artwork on a few commons that would catch my eye for a second, but I'd quickly throw the commons into seperate piles for each color. After 40 packs, I grabbed the commons by color and didn't even look at them--pitching them into piles and just looking at the uncommons+"rares". After the night was over, I had enormous stacks of commons I quickly sorted, and almost never looked at again. I started looking through one of those stacks the other day, and realized there are a few cards I should really think about using again. Some of the new sets have introduced some whacky concepts that weren't around for Fallen Empires. And just using almost anything from Fallen Empires is nearly never seen in tournaments--if you use them, you'll catch people off guard with cards they may not be familiar with. As for Farrel's Zealot, he's alright. As with a few other spells, if his main ability is not able to be used (and it ain't bad), he's still a modest 2/2 creature for 3 mana--a slight waste of mana. If you can get to use his ability, OH BOY! He's a reusable white Lightning Bolt against creatures in the right hands. How can this be extra useful you ask?:
